100mph is not that difficult really - I flew a 1989 Mainair Gemini (ZS-WGT)that clocked 88mph with bar against my boep and still stable. A Air Creation Clipper stock standard will meet and exceed 100mph.

The LaMouette wings are pretty darn fast too - Ask CharlieWhiskey, he has one on his Cobra 912

I agree there is a market for fast trikes

Do I get 2 guesses as to who this "someone" is you are referring to? Bet he speaks good russian

This same "someone" looked at the Gemini wing and said it is old technology - He then flew this Old technology and changed his opinion

I would like to see a locally produced fast wing

I think that if "someone" got together with "somebody" they could make a trike to satisfy "everyone"  (^^)

GT450

After having worked with (and studied) Tumbleweeds GT450 this week, I must agree. One has to appreciate the work that has gone into the wing development alone. It just takes an amazing amount of time and testing to get to that level. Especially with mud islands weather. The price is related to the recovery of UK labour rates.

Having seen the other big toys at the UK microlight shows, also very nice.

Pays your money and takes the choice.

Just one thing 450 owners..when are you going to start "nose art" ?? I would imagine demons avatar would look really cool on the front ?? The matter has been discussed with Tumbleweed.

Hey guys
Don't get me wrong, I think the GT450 is an awesome plane, I flew it so I
know the "feeling" I just think that South Africans have an history of being
a very creative bunch - Just think back what we acheived during the sanction years. We don't have to send our hard earned Rands abroad
to get what we want, we can build it here - hopefully cheaper, and get spares easier.

Sort of an underdog story........

The Tanarg is an absolutely awesome aircraft! It is the trike that everyone wanted (including me!), when they watched them perform in the World Champs (France 2005, and Czech 2007).

Dieselfan - why do you say that it is not so tough? I've seen these aircraft slammed into the landing decks many times. Their suspension and frame iare incredibly strong - I can vouch for that!

They stall slower than the GT450, and fly the same speed on the top end. They get off the ground quicker, are a lot more comfortable. They have a new technology wing and undercarriage, and look really good! Not just a fairing and a small wing. The GT450 is also an awesome trike, but not quite as good.

The Tanarg has adjustable foot pegs, and lots of passenger and luggage space.

My personal preferance would without doubt be the Air Creation Tanarg, with a 912ULS, and iXess 15 wing... mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm! Pity the price tag is way out of my league!

The only criticism I have of the Tanarg is that it should have an electric hang point adjustor, otherwise it is Awesome!!!!!!!!! Can't wait to fly Loneranger's one!

Sorry you got the wrong impression of what I meant

"Also be careful on judging a trike by it's looks. Just because it "looks" softer than a "tougher" looking trike. There have been some examples of where some tougher looking trikes broke forks etc and an imported "flimsy" trike did multiple landings on the some bad runway - bringing in parts... "

What I meant here is that the AC's might look flimsy or weak compared. Chat with Seybrand, he has over a 100k spares not used, he says his biggest mistake was buying spares as the stupid trikes just don't break.

I've read of some tests carried out to 15gees lateral for the engine too.

It's more expensive, but you get a lot more than what you see. Whether all those extra safety features are needed is personal preference.

What I loved was how in flight I couldn't tell if the engine was ON or OFF from a vibration or noise perspective and that with a 582. Very well designed engine mounts.
