Wednesday afternoon I did 44 minutes just flying around the patch, Altona, Goedverwaght, Grootfontein, Morning Star. Smooth as silk up there with a NE, a bit bumpy as usual on finals to MS. :D

Haven't flown all week due to windy August. As my instructor's going overseas for a month on Monday, I'll just have to sit and sulk from the sidelines. :? :?
Maybe tomorrow? (Call me the eternal optimist!).

The school trike is still in pieces so there was no instruction on Saturday.

kb dropped in at about 11am from Ballito for a quick chat and coolie. Hope the tail wind got him home in record time?

Then a very generous grosvenor took me up in his Allegro for a flip up to Ballito. Took over the controls once we reached the coast and flew her from Umhloti river to Ballito and back. :D :D :D A big THANK YOU to grosvenor for the chance to fly again after a couple of weeks. It is only through this forum that this flip managed to get arranged and is encouraging to know that that there are aviators out there who enjoy sharing their passion with others. Thanks again grosvenor.

I finally got over my aerotow hump  -- Its so cool to be able to fly the glider solo again- without an instructor tell me to feep the yaw string straight  While i was going around in circles going nowhere
I noticed a hang glider in a thermal miles away from any mountains-
Now that must be one very cool way to fly- I wondered if he launched from the Magaliesburg but that is about 20km s away
Flying flying flying-- and a bit of gliding

Did another hour of solo circuits on Saturday morning in beautiful conditions.
Arrived at airfield at sparrow's on Sunday morning to find that the trike had developed a small problem and could not fly. :( Was due to be released in the GF for the first time. Oh, well.
Can't fly now for a month since my instructor's going overseas tonight
My poor kids will have to put up with some bad moods due to withdrawal symptoms.

Thanks wart, had a good flight home, tailwind helped,
Then, sunday, flew Ballito, Cato, PMB and back. Landing at Maritzburg was awesome, besides it's my first tar landing, (yes, all the looooong white lines etc), no smoke from the wheels though (sigh), but as I was taxiing back to the terminal, I reached lift off spd, and almost got airborne again. Probably one of the bestest flight in a long long time, made it back safely, no King Air's today.

Flew about 1 hr today, challenging my fear of runway 20. It is a short, narrow, uphill runway, limited go-around space, in the rotor of a hill and forest, and we only use it if the X-wind is too strong for 24.

Didn't actually land on it, but when I took of the possibility was pretty good  . Although I have landed on it quite often, I am still scared of it! :(

It was not too strong today, about 10 knots, but very gusty,(gusts up to 18kt) and I really don't like that wind direction. NE cross I can handle, no probs, but something about the SE just seems to make me nervous. When the oportunity presents itself, I have to challenge this.

So today I practiced gusty x-wind take-offs and landings on 24, and I am starting to think that maybe I can do the 20kt cross wind on Runway 20 after all! :P

Flew right hand seat in a Mooney M20 from Siteka (KZN Midlands) to Blanco (Eastern Cape near Tarkastad) last week Friday.

Was planning to return Tuesday, but got weathered in by the cold front and only got home yesterday afternoon.

Got some good hunting in and had a great time in the old stomping grounds... Some pics of the escarpment near Maclear with LOADS of snow all over...

The worse thing was that I could hear people in the FAFK area on my radio from almost 50km away on tuesday! Makes a girl (**) it does
