Hi all,
I have been looking at this engine and instruments I bought and noticed there are no EGT probes or gauges. It has all the oil temp and pressure, dual cht, revs etc. I spoke to a mate who has a Foxbat and he too does not have any EGT's. Are they neccessary on a 4-stroke 912. What value would I derive out of having them installed?

Exactly the same benefit as in a 2 stroke. What value would I derive out of having them installed?
Install them 2 inches from the engine case (which translates to 5 inches from the exhaust valve).
The values should be about 1475º F on cruise and 1655º F max.

You gonna have a hard time reading the gauge if it's mounted on the exhaust :D :DGR8-DAD wrote:If the one gauge is mounted on front xhorst
Rather mount it inside the plane on the instrument panel.
The probes are unafeccted by airflow because the working ends are inside the exhaust pipes.

Duckie,
My 912's exhausts don't have EGT probes installed. Do you know what thread they need be? I want to get an exhaust company to weld some nuts on. There is also some honderkak welding that I want them to fix. Then I am going to have the exhaust sprayed with alluminium to protect it against the elements.
