I purposely did not want to communicate the 'outcome' of my Sunday flight in my first post (which by the way was after having returned from my flight), but YES, I did fly, and YES, I am alive and writing this to you!
In line with a lot of the advice given in the posts above, I remained completely non-emotional and level-headed, considered all aspects of the planned flight (my mental and physical state, the state of my aircraft, the weather, and my skill and experience as a MPL) and after conducting a thorough preflight and having ticked all the boxes I took off with my son and flew for two hours, including two out landings and takeoffs, before finally returning without incident to Aeroden.
If nothing else it allowed me to better reflect on all elements of the situation and to make a qualified decision! To GO!
