It's a pleasure Junkman,

Yesterday early am I managed 32 minutes but as per usual had to go the that despicable place that cannot be mentioned. WX was looking so good in the pm so I snuck out (again I know, I am really feeling very guilty about this :>> )

During prelight I discovered I had left the radio on from the morning and the batteries were flat. But I have power from the plane so it should be able to run on external power, right, WRONG. It can only charge on external power. I could hear clearly but the moment I keyed the mike the radio died. This I discovered enroute to FAFK so I diverted on to Goedverwacht because Junkie was busy preflighting and I wanted to chat.

Unfortunately because of the damn radio I didn't want to venture too far from home so I didn't join him on his little cross country jaunt. On the way back to Morning Star I saw Keith and Morne zooting across to Altona, and I thought I would follow them. They were 8 miles ahead of me so I put the nose down, throttled up to 5800 and cruised at 90MPH to catch up with them. Not bad for a 503

Anyway back to MS where a Bosbok was in circuit. A damn chopper just called long finals and came in to hove over the threshold. The bosbok had to divert  . The chopper then without making any calls cruised in the circuit below Keith and Morne. They think they own the world

Finally landed and ended up going to Guzzlers with Keith and Morne for a few(^^) (^^) (^^) (^^) (^^) (^^) (^^) (^^) (^^) (^^) (^^) (^^) (^^) (^^) (^^) (^^) (^^) (**)

Not feeling too bright today [0* 8)

All in all 1h34 minutes flying

AUKie is flying again :D 8)

Yesterday I took Skidmark up for a flight out over Altona, then heard CLU-less is the air so we chased after him, followed him out to Wintervogel from where we diverted over Barman's posy before cruising back to Morning Star. 43 minutes

We packed the planes away and spent the rest of the afternoon braaing and having a few beers. (^^)

Hope Skidmark wasnt wingin about selling his share in the Kitfox again was he.. :P :P :D  Ok M - only kiddin. stil luv ya ok...

Anyway a busy flying weekend allround & need a holiday now :)

Saturday - Bushbaby lessons plus a couple of Instructor checkrides in the tailwheel for me

Sunday - Ferried Jeremy to Loeries in BCU (4 hrs 20kt+ headwind) to pick up his upgraded ZU CKP (to nosewheel), a short visit with Boet and Francois (Yellow BB at FAFK), a couple of circuits with Jeremy to get used to her, refuelled & off we went at about 12:30, lost him somewhere on the way's after his RT went on the blink (2.2hrs 20kt tailwind)
After a k@kish landing at FAFK in gusting conditions (my excuse), Jeremy in CKP arrived about 10 min later and managed to safely dodge the traffic and get back down in one piece, a much relieved dude

Guess i need a little more practice in the ol' tailwheel

Congrats Jeremey and nice to have a another excellent example of Boets outstanding work in the Cape.

GR8-Dad was in CT yesterday so he came by MS for a chat. Fortunately I was there. We opted to go for a lovely 35min flip instead. Took him over Altona then on to Junkie's A/F but there was no activity then conties and home

Ooeooeohh!! :P ..it was so good...AUKie was just gliding effortless through the air, not a bump, not a breeze, not even a hint of any turbulance, nearly like flight simulator (except for the bluegum trees of course  ) .

Thanx for tha flip Morph

Another step in the training out of the way: did my solo nav / x-country yesterday in the most perfect conditions. It just got very lonely when I changed off 124.8 to 124.4; not a single aerie out there and to make it worse, McKenzies (Richmond) was deserted. I was glad to get back onto 124.8 and listen to the chatter back in Cato area.

In total, did 2.3 hours this weekend but a dampener was put on flying today with the news that a good friend was missing off the Transkei coast.

Also did a very nice dual Nav yesterday. Clanwilliam to Fisantekraal at FL65 and tailwind of 25 KIAS. Fisantekraal to Worcester at FL75. Land and refuel Worcester , 1 hr 10 minutes and off to Tanqua at FL 85 and 30 KIAS headwind. Landed and enjoyed coffee, cake with the very hospitable owners of Tanqua guesthouse  :P Off to Clanwilliam and landed 2 hrs 15 min engine hours since Worcester. Total time Nav: 3hrs, 30 min. :P :P :P
