Anyone ventured into how breaking altitude records are possible?
Any ideas on what one needs to modify or do? (other than warm clothes and oxygen of course  )
This one's on my bucket list for sure!

For records go to the FAI website:

Have been to 12000 ft in the Cheetah many moons ago (8000ft AGL)

Was a 4000ft AGL the other day for the parachute drop over FAMO.

The world looks a bit different if you equate to AGL figures.... (^^)

I wanted to find the service ceiling of my Bushbaby a while ago, but cheated somewhat as I was one up with half tanks ( at the coast ), I gave up at 13 500 foot while still climbing at 150 ft / min (concerned about hypoxia - probably totally unwarranted?)

If I am going somewhere, then high is good, better TAS, smooth ride, navigation is a breeze, you can see for a zillion miles, better fuel consumption, although I guess that does not count for a trike, unless you had some form of mixture control, or vacuum carbs that compensate for altitude.
I like high.
But of course, buzzing around the patch at sunrise or sunset at 500' has its own kind of special. vhpy

The problem with buzzing around at 7500' under the JHB TMA is too many unguided missiles in blik aeries at that altitude, not looking out the window, with no idea how to use a radio properly.
Anybody who has heard the Mumbai crowd from SAFTA down at Heidelberg will know exactly what I am talking about.
