The best weather for flying microlight

Postby ZU BBV » Tue Jul 07, 2009 6:56 am

Which area in our country will have the best weather for trike flying? Although we do have very beautiful days in the Western Cape, there are overall not a huge amount of flyable days in the year. I would be interested to trailer my trike to an area with the family for some nice, every day flying. Is that possible?

I agree with BOATCH

Pyramid airfield in Barberton is perfect…

The accommodation is good and well priced with excellent facilities, temporary hangerage can be arranged, and a great launching pad to see the sites of the eastern trasvaal such as Gods window, Kruger Park etc and if the wx is not good, the valley is normally flyable

Go to www.pyramid.za.net (the website does not do it justice, but has the necessary contact details), by far the best privately maintained airfield in the country!

Cheers

Huh?
Average 150hrs per year, could be more if I did not have to work. Or if I could force myself to get up before sunrise.

Try the Karoo this time of the year...heeltyd speeltyd. Agree with Gert, if the work thing didn't intervere with our lives lot's of flying time. Just had a six day spell of absolute wonderful flying weather. Waaier did the Table Mountain thing today. Not (**) but vhpy vhpy afterwards.

Have to agree with Boatch on this one! Lowveld is a great place to fly! Good WX and very nice places to visit! I must say although I enjoy flying the lowveld, one of my best flights for this year was flying the "Wildcoast"!

Note where I fly from. Try those 150 hours near the mountains by Greyton!

The Karoo is huge. Where about. My family are near Williston and would love to fly there.
