Dankie Frans

Groete

Congrats Len and Lion

Len, hope you are not only going to use it for training, but that you will also enjoy the more sociable side by side enclosed configuration as much as Tinkerbell and myself do on the Xenon.
I agree with Paul, have a serious look at the MGL Odyssey (G2) system. We are very happy with the quality, flexibility and ease of use of the system. You can also consider the Filser ATR833 dual watch radio which is fully compatible with the MGL system ie change radio frequencies from the MGL system direct.
I would suggest you download the MGL flight simulator and screen designer and play around with screen setups etc. and see how versatile and easy to use this system is.

Hope you haven't paid all the money on order, else the whole CAA thing might just save you quite a bit of money with the current exchange rate.

Once again congratulations on a beautiful machine, hope you get her in the air soon to enjoy.

Paul, sorry I didn't contact you when I did my MGL upgrade with Rainier, but it was a rushed Argus weekend, will definately do it next time. Will have a cold one with your brother tomorrow to make up.

Thanks Lion, and all the others, for the good wishes and advice. Remember that feeling, a couple of days before Christmas, as a lightie when you KNEW you were getting this awesome train set. I want to go to bed early so it can happen sooner.

No Definately not only for Training! I plan to capitalise fully on the sociable side and a nice long trip to Namibia is in the pipeline. I have always liked enclosed (preferably with the option to pop the doors off if you wish) Same reason I drive a convertible I guess...you can let the outside in if you want but the conditions have to be right or it quickly becomes no fun. Not that often you can comfortably drive with the roof down in the Cape. Imagine if my wife had to sit behind me in the convertible? Much less sociable ... actually, come to think of it, she'll insist on driving or she wont go along. Easier to buy a side-by-side than to try to persuade her. or train her. Side by side she will go along willingly.

Good to know there is a Filser with the same neat functionality to the Odyssey. I have heard good things about the MGL radio. Wish they had an integrated transponder but I believe thats yet a way off. Going to go download the simulator immediately.

Yep, paid the balance end of January when they were ready to load, it had already improved a bit in my favour. Shipping costs still to come.

Johnny Bravo, I don't think we need much of a reason to celebrate but I can't think of a better one than this! Looking forward to it. (^^)

Cant wait either. Maybe there will be a small 1 1/2 seater in the hanger soon. Im just not changing any nappies. ## ##

Calm down Trikenut. It's still in JHB. We'll go fetch it soon!

As a student at the school you can book your slot for training, just rob your dad's piggy bank :-)

I am glad you share my excitement & of course I will take you for a flip (with Dads permission) again!

Think we must fly down with DUO , then fly back with M24 and DUO , would be an awesome trip .

LEn , the more i think about it , If it was me and for the job you want to use it for , I would either go Dual Enigmas , that way you can see what the student sees , Sometimes not the best rading at an angle , Then use the centre console for the Analog instruments and Radios , Or go Odyssey in the Middle (if it would Fit ) then you and student can see the screen , With some analog on the right .

Cant wait to see her fly

By WE do you mean I get to come?
It would actually be quite fun to fly Louis's new M16 and your M24 down together. Of course, we'll have to test how they handle with passengers! (-)
When do we leave?

I agree with Paul and all the others. Go for an Oddesey. I have seen them and they look awesome! I would go dual and then put analog instruments on the sides of the PIC's one. Use the middle for radio's, transponders, switches etc.

Cheers,
Ross

Hey Len ! So bly vir jou man !! Best feeling in the world when that thingie arrives. We all feel like little boys again. Now the fun of instruments and the installations.
Leos setup is one of the nicest I have ever seen in an aircraft. It really is magnificant and the guys at Clifton really did their thing. The MGL Oddessey that I have in my woer woer is super and neat and gives you every little detailed info you may need or desire. Nice thing for you guys in the Cape is that Raynier is just around the corner to help with the setup and if something goes wrong.
Only hassle with mine is that it does not like the interference from radio transmissions and sometimes freezes, then you have to restart the machine.
Braam is going to screen my cables which should help.
In elk geval baie baie geluk met jou airie. Jy het lank gewag en gaan dit baie geniet , ek weet byvoorbaat ! ( I've had a sneak preview of the smile and expression of sheer bliss on a M24 pilots face who has been there and done that...) uitgeklim en pak gekry , ingeklim en weer wou ry ... joke !!!!
Please let me know when you are planning the trip cause it might be fun to escort you with a gaggle of enclosed side by sides from the RAF, Xenon and M24 stables for at least some of the way. Kom Butchie !!! Jaag daai manne by CAA lat ons aan die gang kom !! I believe it's almost there now !
You go Len !
