Boet I find the mutual visits and the cross pollination of thoughts very stimulating. Sharing ideas has the ability of making previously thought thoughts clearer. Looking forward to moments where we can discuss things at the AP seminar in Jo-ie's . It is just a pity because it eats into building time. At my age the project must get finished every day it drags on is less flying time.
Having the mounting plates of the landing gear tilted 6 degrees so that the centre of the axle is 50mm behind the leading edge. to make sure the tail is not to light. I'm documenting everything very carefully so that we can help other builders with there projects. Tonight I'm making the brackets for the solid state gyros , I will suspend the box from the floor of the bagage dept. it will be foam mounted on a heavy plate to give the box more resistance to vibration.

Tonight no pics

Keep well

Posted by "snail"mail. Today we got a LOT of work done. We made the roofs and turtle decks for 2 aeroplanes. The wings of the 3rd Safari Bos-ot is now varnished and ready for the tanks to go in. My Explorer is standing a bit until we have caught up with the time we lost during holidays! Tomorrow morning, at sparrows, I have to leave for the Fairest. On the way pick up my friend, Johan Froneman. We both on the plane tomorrow night for the AP and instructors seminar in Benoni. How many Microlighters and Avcommers are going to be there?? Looking forward to linking some more faces with avatars. vhpy Meantime the "slave driver" ( Thats ME! ) have given the lads more to do than they can handle. They carry on without me for 2 days. Hope they don`t screw up. We are now back into the routine, and things are going a lot smoother. The days are flying by. Time flies when you are having fun!! vhpy vhpy vhpy

Johnsa

It should come in ,in the LSA class the empty weight is looking as if it will be 320kgs . I'm having the wings stress tested to 750kgs all up weight I'm going to fly with an ATP and vliegvark with a PPL hence the higher weight category. The flight performance and testing will dictate.

Hope that answers that

Sorry for a lack of photo's and comms the last week ,went to the AP seminar and Instructors seminar in Gauteng. For us down south Gauteng is a bit like going overseas but we survived.
Vliegvark joined me. The attitude of the CAA was wonderful and they want to really help.
Here some pics of the and wheels and the addaptor fittings. With these the actual wheel position can be controlled. Boet is the agent for the wheels all South African and superb quality. Also some pics of the sump baffles.

Sorry for the lack of photo's. Was quite busy the weekend did some practice flying on the PC12 on Friday afternoon for the IF test on Sunday morning. On Saturday gave lectures to the Airscouts a bunch of interested youngsters they long for flying and I was privileged to share our love for aircraft with them. Then early Sunday morning up and about climbed the PC12 to 14000ft and did stalls steep turns etc under the hood followed by a mock VOR DME letdown at 12000ft and then receiving radar vectors for the ILS runway 19 at Cape Town. The examiner seemed to be happy with the old man and I was issued with the necessary paperwork for the next 12months. Straight home and onto the Bosvark did the final fitting of the axles and wheels and brakes and refitted the spring steel gear back into the fittings which I had milled to 6degrees slant to adjust the final axle position. With this method I can make the aircraft more or less tail heavy. Test flying will dictate. If you want to do fancy tail lifting and maneuvering the wheels must go back, if however you want the aircraft not to be prone to nose-over the wheels must come forward there is always the golden position in the middle. The brackets are easily interchanged so you can tune your own gear. Then with the gear back in position came the brake lines and the routing without obstruction and pinching . Also attention was given to the header tank good breathing and protection of the fuel lines through the fire wall with specially made brass bushes.
Every body asks how long.We aim to have her flying in 90 days that is end of April. Otto of Eboxi fame is going to be responsible for the wiring at the moment he is still walking round the firewall and is looking behind the panel scratching his head. He is designing and making an instrument that is going to monitor the two Eboxi's non invasive he is mumbling something with about induction and not connected for us earthlings it is sometimes difficult to understand the rocket scientists. Now enough writing here are some photo's

Enjoy the viewing Oupa-G
