Holy cow, our first tv, the exact Sony without the stand, and my matric bicycle, the much sought after Chopper. 8) Everybody wanted one, but bliksem, it was a terrible bike to ride.... :? ......but you didn't admit to it, once you had one. You had three gears, and the others didn't have. puff I had to sell Transvaler in the morning and the Vaderland in the afternoon to buy myself one, cause my father said it was a piece of sh!t, but what did he know. ##

We got our first tv in '78. For two years before that, we walked down to O.K Bazaars in Orkney - yeah thats where I grew up  - and sit and watched tv through the window, between 7 and 9. Actually took chairs with. The next morning all the "rich" kids which got the firts tv's, were discussing Haas Das and them. We couldn't participate, cause "our" tv had picture but no sound.

Unfortunately never could afford a calculator watch, but mine had a cool tune alarm   - Scotland the brave.

For about the first year of TV we used to go watch 'Haas das' at a rich 'maaitjie' down the road who had a TV. Just about the whole neighbourhood piled into their living room on tuesday nights.
Who remember the series mirage?. Translated into afrikaans from the french.

I never did own a chopper but my sister did and hence the reason I never did. What a terrible thing. Saw my behind solidly on that as her brakes and mine was swopped around and I used her bike to go fetch spares for mine that had a breakdown. We had a failry steep downhill in down and of course I applied max rear braking - which turned out to be the front - small ground patch on the tar road washed up by the rain and head over heels was the result.
Nuts about Cheetahs. Petit is the place.
