Microlighters.co.za ROCKS

Postby kloot piloot » Wed Jan 14, 2009 11:53 pm

I've had a sh%t week.

I broke my aerie, I had a F650GS stolen at home and the tense following up on the search of the missing C206 near Northam. Then I read Heksie (Santjie White's) grattitude and I forget about my own worries.

THEN I read our "neighbours" nextdoor at AVCOM and I realize that we are a good bunch.

They (the neighbours)attack each other like wild dogs, they predict before God has made up His mind, they declare dead before the patient has been admitted, they have funerals before the person is found, there are testosterone driven 10 percenters overriding an otherwise highly informative forum !

Good on all OUR moderators and microlighters out there. Integrity is what forms the difference between a National Geographic Magizine versus a Son Koerant. I applaud you ALL.

May this Microlighters Forum grow even further from its very high level, based on its participants' intellectual values ! vhpy vhpy

And F%$K the Jones nextd...

Now I will bugger off, 'cause I have overstayed my welcome on this forum tonight.
Sleep tight.

It also used to bug me about the "rift" between the neighbours and Microlighters. Then I saw the light. If it bugs you that much, don't visit the site. There are a hellava lot of great guys on that site as well as some indifferent ones. Hey, why lose sleep over it, life is too short.
Great and helpful people on this site, so assist them and use them. I still log on to the other site but skip the petty parts and read the relevant ones.

Not crittin anyone just my 100 billion Zim dollars worth    (^^) (^^)

Avcom is an interesting forum is you can ignore the nit picking, infighting and insest  There are alot of members on Avcom that are great guys its just a certain group that seem to think they are flying demi gods. Just ignore them.

But I do agree that microlighters is a great forum :!: (^^)

Also following the thread on the missing 206, I've been shaking my head lots of times. Interesting bunch.

Maybe it is because most of them fly blikkies for money(as a job ## ) and knows everything  and we (microlighters) fly "real aeries" (^^) for fun and do a real job for money :P :P :P :P :P :P (-)

Unfortunately this is again an US & THEM situation ##
Take what you want & need from the forum & ignore the rest.
Ask yourself "Do I add value & do I get value" ($$)
The rest is hot air (^^)
I wear many caps, EAA, SSSA, ERFC & ERGC so there is a lot of pulling & shoving BUT keep the ball in the middle & it works out OK xxx

It is often in the numbers. When AvCom was the same size as this site, it too was pretty quiet with very few heated moments. The more individuals you put together - the more differing opinions you will get and that is proportionate to the number of personalities you will get too.

If one goes with the assumption that it is mainly the blik pilots who cause the rifts, then you need to look at why. Many of them are business owners/entrepeneurs and to get there, they have had to convince people that their products/services are required - in short they need to be pretty confident and strong individuals. A by product of confidence is ego - ask anyone who has been in the broadcasting world. Celebs are full of ego and holier than thou - but without the confidence they would never be able to do what they do.

So being equipped with confidence and ego; being used to convince people of your views to the point they will give you money; and being met with someone of a similar nature - well it is kinda like having an unstoppable force hit an immovable object. There will be interesting debates.

Also if people just agreed with each other, things would be kinda boring and very little progress or learning would be achieved.

Interestingly enough - i think our mods have cobwebs between there fingers because it is preciously few and far between that any threads are moderated. I agree that the more diverse opinion the more likely the chance of a spark. Thats natural, but there are some that seem intent on confrontation and argument. I dont understand that. I once saw an inncent post turn into a fight in less than three posts and all it had to do with was a guy complimenting female pilots. Within three posts he was accused of being everything from a sexual predator to a pervert. WTF ???? anyway leftseat makes a good point, if you dont like it dont visit it....

Heres my thing, I visit and read Avcom quite regularly, I PARTCIPATE in Ml-lighters daily... (**) (**)
