Boet those baffles are magic not one molecule of air is going to go through that cowling without it picking up heat. The rest of the air is for thrust and lift= speed and performance.

Boet die afrikaans is ons gaan kook met die baffles maar dis die verkeerde woord die engels is beter those cowlings are cool we can chill out with them.

Today I made the bracket for the slip ring contact had a complicated bracket in mind but once I had the physical problem in font of me the solution was elegant with minimal material but stiff enough to withstand vibration. There is no force on it it only holds the carbon brushes against the slip ring. So little bracket so much time
The prop adjusts 10 degrees . This however is an adjustable parameter

I see 14000 hits tonight when I logged on .It amazes me the interest in this project. For me it is a wonderful experience to have an additional six hands helping me in Loeriesfontein. Boet thank you for guiding them. I hope the end result will be a super aeroplane for the whole fraternity. And where we have misread the design we will change it till it is right. Of tomorrow to the friendly oil cooler maker in Paarl to finalise the design based on the experience gained on the 2 BMW trikes . We have a good clue on the size core thickness etc.

We driving down to Fairest tomorrow for some bussiness. ( Need 'stuff" for the work to continue). All the baffle for the Bee Em is in a box, want to go see Oom tomorrow afternoon sometime to go check on progress and discuss. Don`t you just LOVE it when a plan comes together.

The Explorer flies well with 65hp there is no reason that the Safari would not fly well with 65hp Our weights are well in check and marginally heavier then the Explorer maybe 5kgs on just the airframe The other toys we put in does increase the weight but we will have 100hp.
Enclosed some photos of the fuel line left pillar through the tube also goes 2 pipes for AOA 1static line 1 for Pitot also picture of fuel valve and connection to header tank.
We have already tested the fuel line for two years in Mogas without a problem. The fittings we use will be checked they are supposed to be able to take 10bar field trials will tell.

Boet arrived with the engine baffles he reads my mind and we are in tune on how the air is flowing round the engine will definitely have better airflow round the cylinders then in the trike installation and the outlet air is going to move the air over the exhaust and out of the cowling. It is nice that the fuel is in front an the air intake is in the high pressure zone. On brand X the Bing carburetor is above the exhaust luckily they put a drip tray under the carb but I know of a Whisper that had a localized fire in that region. The engine will be monitored with multiple probes to make sure we do not have any hot spots. At all costs we want a cool running engine. Once the baffles are all trimmed templates will be made digitized and then the baffles will be Laser cut . We would advise that all engine installations give attention to this detail. It does help if you have everything dual and then the engine seizes due to overheating. Enjoy the pics

I see there is quite an interest according to the hits with little comment. My first photo tonight is of the PC12 panel picked up some critically injured patients from Beaufort West that was one of the taxi accident. I'm winging away at 20,000ft and in the cruise I'm thinking of the Bosvark cowling and the airflow. Cannot be helped the reliability of the PC12 is at least something to aim for. So my sunday passed with little work on the plane . But tonight I had cowling on and of and on and fitting the baffles ,managed to cut and trim without even drawing blood. Very unusual when working with tin snip and curled pieces of ali.

Things are moving forward at a really fast pace now. Not too long before the first Bos-ot flies now. no 2 going togethet in leaps and bounds, and no 3 not far behind. Last week we built a set of wings in just 3 days. It was so bloody hot inside the shop, we could glue things together twice a day Spent last Friday with Oupa G, and we discussed and planned a lot of things around the Bos-ot and it`s engine installation. I LOVE it when a plan comes together.
