Rainbow Cheetah

Postby John Boucher » Fri Feb 02, 2007 1:18 pm

Hi there all

Isn't great to have so much wealth of information at the tips of ones fingertips in this forum.... so I hope someone can assist or give advice!

1. I would like to convert my Cheetahs brakes to hydraulic disc brakes. Has anyone done that that owns a Cheetah or does anyone know of a kit available for it. The agents aren't forthcoming. :(

2. I have a 582 Blue Top with a P-Prop. The P-Prop works well but I find that the 582 is slightly underpowered for what I want it to do. Has anyone done a conversion from a Rotax 582 to say a Jabiru 80/85hp engine? I know of one flying at Tempe in TD form. Rainbow was not impressed with the performance figures. Enlighten me.

3. I have a Warp Drive with 3-blades plus spinner for sale.. any offers. No cracks in hub.

Hydraulic brakes

Postby Pumba » Fri Feb 02, 2007 3:43 pm

Bad Nav

There is a company called Black Max in the USA who manufacture them. A set with 2 each; axles, brake calipers, wheels (6x6.00) and all the piping including the master cylinder and brake lever sells for around $450.00

I dunno what importation would set you back. Let me know if you need details.

Regards
Barry

There is always room for improvement.

The Cheetah Hydraulic Braking system had been work in progress for quite some time now, due to trial and error we cannot make empty promises.

I'd appreciate it if all you Cheetah fanatics could update your contact details by mailing it to: sales@aerotrike.co.za

Any suggestions, queries, compliments and complaints are most welcome too. s023

I must say that is the only thing I could possibly complain about and that is the brakes. They are really pretty useless for anything faster than about walking pace. Hydraulics here will really make a nice difference....
Nuts about Cheetahs. Petit is the place.

Can't you e-mail me a spreadsheet with all the Cheetah numbers, registrations and current owner list? :?:
Would like to see if I am on and a few of the Cheetah owners I know!

You handled my swipe quite well.... won't it be a pleasure to have decent brakes? (^^)

Calling all Cheetah owners!
Come and celebrate the 100th Cheetah with Rainbow Aircraft!

We would be delighted if you would please join us at the Rainbow Aircraft hangar at Springs airport to arrive by 09:00 on Saturday, 31 January 2009 and participate in an impressive mass celebratory flight to show off our aircraft. We plan to take off soon after 09:00 to fly to Petit airfield, land there and return to Springs airfield shortly after a short break.

We look forward to having as many Cheetah pilots as possible attending this fun event, but everyone is welcome to fly or drive in to share in the excitement of the morning. Please let your fellow aviation enthusiasts know that we are about to turn a whole pride of Cheetahs loose! Hope to see you all there!

To assist us with the logistics for the occasion, please RSVP asap to Ray Cornelissen by email: sales@aerotrike.co.za

Hi There is one thing i can not understand, how they can copy a skyranger and make some mods to it and then fit cable brakes. The skyranger is also a great aircraft but there are some nice things on the cheetah that i would like to have but there is verry little that beats the skyrangers brakes. vhpy

Boatch... true.

I am redoing my brakes at the moment but retaining the drums. If they do not improve after what I have done - hydraulics for me!

So... there is only 1 point you can criticize the Cheetah on?
