Awesome joll boys!! I'm envious.

No doubt the GT450 comes with a lifejacket stowed under the seat? (**)

Yesterday we fueled up and went down to the St Francis airfield to view the planes that had come in for the fly-in. There were all types there from some trikes from Port Alfred and Grahamstown to a PC12. Had some breakfast and some highly intelligent conversation. Gaylord just watched.

sEXY after a 30 minute flight around decided that was enough for him and he was going to relax for the day.

Myself, Big G, Focker, Havok and Chokey lifted off at about 10am for Plett. The Wx was very good although a bit misty in patches. The scenery along the coast to Plett was amazing. Very different from the EL to St Francis leg. That was miles and miles of beach whilst this leg was mostly rocky with cliffs and the odd beach in between.

The beaches along the way have not been that busy - a sign of the times I guess.

After about 1h30 we arrived in Plett. First time that I have flown in there. A nice big tar strip. Unmanned but reasonably busy. One of my collegues was meeting us there with family and friends in tow for flips over the bay. That took a good few hours and by the time we were done with the flips we decided to head back rather than carry on to Knysna as we were a bit unsure of the Wx.

Beatlejuice who was in Plett on holiday with the family decided to abandon them and he caught a back seat with Big G back to St Francis for the night.

Again a perfect flight back in good conditions. We saw plenty of whales and chokka boats along the way.

Demon as stated was off the St Francis bay in his 25 ft deapsea boat and requested a fly past which we obviously had to oblidge.

We landed back with just over 4 hours of flying and headed off for a few hydrolic sandwiches.

This morning we will leave at about 9am for Burgersdorp.

Thanks for the day in St Francis Demon.

If there is an open day with a breakfast next year again, I am sure the softness and myself will do the trip again. Got back to Port Alfred a bit later than planned due to weather at Port Elizabeth being closed in down to the deck.

Holiday trip with the boys

Postby John Young » Mon Dec 22, 2008 6:50 pm

Hi,

Left solo from Burgersdorp at 05h45 today routing Elliot, Ugie, Kokstad (to avoid the really high ground of Lesotho) and then onto Light Flight - (300 miles in just over 3 hours - nice tail wind all the way).

My tail wind was the others head wind - took them 5 or more hours to Joeys.

Great trip, great guys, great time had by all. !!!!

Regards
