That only around 50-55 Euro. I have doubt it very much. I am thinking closer to the R800K mark (+VAT). Def closer a bar for the 914 with full glass....johnsa wrote:Factory built I guess 650.000 depending on the power plant and avionics one make a bet?

I always tend to be "non conventional", so as much as I like the RV's there are just to many around

Hey, my initials are even RV

Dear Mike
I must congratulate you on the new SA plane what a tremendous achievement only a real builder can appreciate the amount of work that takes place the thinking the fitting the redoing and so it carries on and then to do the first flight what an achievement Such a new plane deserves a special name you can name it after a bird or some vision but I think that you should name it after somebody that changed history and that studied heavenly bodies and as it looks like a heavenly body why not call it "Galileo" he was a serious Dude.
Congratulations Oupa-G

This all seems a little higher than the proposed US$50,000 - US$55,000 for the new RV12RV4ker wrote:That only around 50-55 Euro. I have doubt it very much. Re: New Airplane Seen
Firstly, thank you Oupa G for the kind words - I will make sure Mike reads it.
James Pitman and I flew it for about an hour this morning, testing out some new mods. All changes had positive effects. We are still adjusting the stick forces to see if we can get it spot-on Mil-Spec.

Re: New Airplane Seen
When are we going to see some sexy wheel spats on her. Looks a bit bare around the legs currently.

Nuts about Cheetahs. Petit is the place.

Re: New Airplane Seen
We have designed some very nice spats (based on the low drag spats of Burt Rutan's VariEze). We are waiting for the shapes to get machined in Cape Town.

How about calling it after the comic hero "silver surfer"?

Re: New Airplane Seen
It is a bit of a gamble to include a colour in the name - what if someone wants to paint his plane pink!?!
The bare aluminium on our plane is because we do not intend to keep the structure for very long after the test-flying is complete (some ultimate testing needs to be done).
Also, paint adds a bit of weight - all our mods are doing that already!

That is one sweet looking machine!
I hope there is a tail-wheel version on the horizon soon.

Re: New Airplane Seen
Ok, it is still not 100% official, but here are the prices:
Kit (everything excl. engine, prop and instruments): R230k
Ready to fly (912ULS, basic prop, one MGL Voyager EFIS, no ballistic 'chute) R600k
Some changes to appear on the production planes: sliding canopy and a more rounded engine cowl.
Weather permitting, we will be at the field on Saturday morning (Hangar 34, Springs), anyone who would like to take a closer look or have some questions is welcome to stop by.

Re: New Airplane Seen
Will kit be hole matched (ala RV) or will it require fabrication?
Any chance of some construction pics?
