Fantastic Service from Air Magic

Postby mcfly » Sun Nov 16, 2008 8:37 am

We sometimes vent our frustrations regarding poor service from providers and largely ignore the good service as a matter of course.

I purchased the Air Magic helmets and intercom system and I was completely satisfied with the product.I experienced some minor problem with the connection method of the chatterbox to my Vertex radio.Paul (Zulu on the forum) replaced the effected parts immediately with revised connectors, ensuring that I do not have the same problem again. The replacement articles were despatched within a couple of days. Thanks Paul!!! (^^) and Air Magic. (^^) (^^)

I have chatted to Paul before about hisintercom systems. He has always replied to my emails ASAP and has given me all the info I need! I think the only mail he hasn't replied about in two days is the latest one I sent him!! Paul, check your inbox! vhpy He has always given me reasonable answers and has given me the thumbs up to a lot of things he usually doesn't do on his systems! keep up the good work Paul!

Les, thanks for that, the problem that we discovered is with the VXA series plugs. The VXA 220 is the best of the best so we had to find a simple cure, not so easy. They are very good but as they screw in we struggled to find a simple economical answer. What has been happening is the continual "screwing in/out" with the chatterbox causes the ground wire to actually break off at the plug joint itself. Our Paraglider friends have similar problems as well. The Icoms dont do this as they plug in direct. We use the cable from the CT96 adaptor supplied with the radio, chop the two GA sockets off and then use the Binder 710 series plugs and sockets in the cable. I dont like plugs and sockets if not necessary but here we had no choice.

I would strongly advise those that have them in use with Buzzcom, Speakease or other systems to go and fit a pair ASAP as the plug can become a nuisance if the shield breaks. The CT96 is expensive as well.

These are available from RS components in Midrand, they courier country wide.

4 way Binder 710 series plugs RS stock No. 129 6482 cost R45,34c each

4 way Binder 710 series socket RS stock No. 129 6549 cost R43,48 each

Trikenut, sir no email !! Please send again.

Flo Momberg has some stock of them and Solo in the Cape has some, they have both learnt how to put them on...

Cheers Paul
