Vroulief moet asb nou net my rug met Voltaren gel in smeer. Heeldag gewerk dat die byle huil. All the bits that does`nt look like a cowling has been sawed and sanded off. Amazing to think that an engine lurks inside that lump of foam. vhpy Hard work, but satisfying. Strangely enough, this foam can be sanded using pieces of offcut foam.(Works best!) By late afternoon we had the shape ......ahh.....wellll...shaped. Now we are sealing all the foam pores with microballoons and poyester resin. A sticky job. We also get rid of most of the uneven spots. Tomorrow we cover it with one layer BID glass, and then some more filling and some more SANDING. eeeiiish. Now is Oom en Jan happy with the shape?? vhpy vhpy

This, belief it or not, is the major shaping tool for an aircraft cowling.

Boet, Dom vraag meskien.

(The foam "mould" is used as a template (plug) to make a "negative" mould that is then used to make the cowls)

Dankie manne. vhpy Vandag het ons noch einemal geskuur dat die k@k wit sit. Nou is die "plug" amper so glad as wat ek hom wil he. Unfortunately my mik en druk acted up today, so no pics tonight. Sorry..... Hopefully can get it going or borrow a replacement from the small sofness. vhpy While me and Esteban were slaving awayon the cowling, Willem has been as busy as a one legged man at an ass kicking contest. All 3 aeries have door skins and the luggage boxes all have alu floors, and most of the controll systems is in. I HAVE to finish the cowling mold before I can carry on with anything else. We are keeping VERY busy at the moment, too much work for three sets of hands. but I am thankfull. Some of my mates are complaining of slack bussiness and not enough work......
Grumpy, in all probability we will have to break this plug to get the mold off. Not nice. But once we have the mold, we can make as many of those cowlings as we want! (^^)

Boet dit is pragtig en ek dink dat op die oomblik loop die Loeriesfontein manne voor in die resies. Die binnekant van die cowling se detail is still a whole new set of tricks. Send my regards to the other four hands and vroulief.

I will post pics and our advances over the weekend
