94.7 - Rude awakening team??

Postby Dish » Thu Oct 23, 2008 10:02 am

Morning Lads,

I have a question and im really just interested in everyones input, partly for my own sanity and also just to gauge responses.
Is anyone else COMPLETELY GATVOL of Mansfield and his morning radio team???   or is it just me. Im interested in opinions as to whether the show has now reached the end of its sell by date and whether anyone at all still finds the half wit, crass, repeated humour amusing?? Is it just me?? :?: :?: :?:

Interested in hearing opinions?

I was a big fan for many years but it certainly has lost its appeal....I now listen to John Robbie in the mornings, not much entertainment value but it certainly keeps me up to date with the goings on in the world.

I also used to listen to them ten years ago (if not more) they were fresh, a little Risque and quite fun. Over the years now I have gone so completely off them ( and yes I know its as simple as changing the station), Im simply wondering whether im the only oke who feels this way - for some &%(&^%(&*% reason they seem to be popular..

I hate sam cowan and her whining, whackhead is simply not funny... mansfields a ^&**^ and the only oke i have time for is Bongani >>

Oh well - thats me vented

Thanks

I still listen to them partly because the rest is even worse and I really can't stomach the others. Certainly not boring talk radio and jacaranda too will have me asleep from boredom before I get to work. I am normally out of the car before whackhead comes on and yes I don't generally find him funny either. Comedy at the expense of other people has never really appealed to me.

I'm with you guys. Stopped listening to them some time ago. 5 fm is a lot better even if Gareth is an arrogant assh&l
Alex J in the afternoons is even worse so I enjoy Fresh and his team and my radio stays on 5 fm all the time (^^)

They started playing Wackhead on 94.5 here in the mornings. I sent an email to the DJ saying that this was a negative step IMHO because Wackhead is simply not funny, in fact irritating. The DJ said the decision was a corporate one so Wackhead was to stay. So now I change stations whenever he comes on, and sometimes, 5fm is more interesting and I stay there for the day. I can't understand how someone with such a whiney voice can be on radio or TV. Not to mention him and Jeremy on Laugh Out Loud, if that is the best of SA humour then we have serious problems. Put Dopey Shabelala on any day

Now I am originally from the big smoke and moved down to CT in 2000. I visit the big city 3 to 4 times a year and everytime I tune to Highveld it's like I never left, the same old irritating crap. I am talking exclusively about the breakfast team. The rest of the day is cool

Yeah I agree entirely with Morph !!! echo your sentiments... lets try another sideline within the topic..

Did anybody at all find laugh out loud and that ridiculous Johan van der walt funny.... ?? I couldnt believe when people told me they though he was hilarious or when the show got a second season.... if thats the best humour we have then we have a comedy problem.... does anybody know the British Comedian Eddy Izzard... Now thats a funny guy, or the dry sense of humour that steven write produces ??

hilarious and intelligent !! good listening./...

I was a big fan years ago, when they were new. Now I can't stand Mansfield- a smarmier, more smug person I've yet to encounter. As for Simpson, well I think he has the wrong nickname- I think of him as P@@sface.

Worst way to start the day for me, is to switch radio on forgetting that it might be on 94.7 from the evening before- I quite like the other shows- and get a blast of Mansfield, Cowan or Simpson.

The only really good presenter they had was Harry Sideropolous.

102.7 Classic works for me.

Or 118.7.

Johan VD Walt was funny on the small skits he used to do for the radio, I think it was movie revues. They then made the TV special and in the first 3 minutes I was pulling a Puke Watson. Never watched anymore of it. Ridiculous

Yes Steven Wright hilarious, Lee Evans brilliant(doing standup, there are two one in Scotland and one in Wales. His slapstick series is aweful), Robin Williams live on Broadway, excellent

In my opinion luagh out loud was a joke!!! They have a long way to go to learn about tv comedy. I still remember being a kid in the UK and watching classics such as Cannon and Ball, The Two Ronnies, The Young Ones, Fawlty Towers, Spitting Image, Kenny Everett, etc, etc. But all in all no one can beat the Big Yin!!!!
