Garmin 296C Programming

Please advise, if I get a secondhand unit from the UK,is it possible to have it configured for Southern Africa and can I do this myself thru the internet or will I have to send it to an agent to be done????????? Mother Xmas going shopping so needs to know.

I think you can order the unit with the SA map installed or on cd rom in the uk.

IIRC can be done online. $49.95 last time I did it,but mine has atlantic database, so was just update...

Please Note: Garmin aviation units can only hold one Jeppesen database coverage area at a time. When you update your database, the old one is erased.
Am sure you could add maps on data cards (^^) Awesome piece of kit..... puff

I think the UK uses same database as we do? :?: :?: :?:

Yes, the UK uses the same (Atlantic) database as we do so you don't need to change anything.

Thanks for the info, now to get my hands on a unit. I have a Lowrance Airmap 100 at the moment, nice unit but would like upgrade to bigger screen is the plan
