Not as far as I'm aware. A lot of your questions seem to revolve around the eye test - do you have a concern there?
Nuts about Cheetahs. Petit is the place.

Yes, I have one eye that is not 100 percent

Are you busy with PPL or MPL...
For PPL you need a Class 2 medical
For MPL you need a Class 4 medical
So the if you choose the MPL or soon to be RPL then your medical requirements are less. I am colour blind or so they say and will have to do a Latern Test before I can be declared fit to do Night Rating or CPL. I am Class 2 safe with 12/10 vision (better than required)

+ 2.5 = 28.3. Bigish cross country this morning. 170 miles. Petit, Pinedene corridor, Harties dam, aviator's paradise - outlanding for a pee and coffee at Brits. MAN does the turbulance get busy there. Andy had to take care of that landing There was huge amounts of lift from the ground as well - had to side slip to lose height and stick her in there. Departure there also leaves you with not a lot of places to go if the donkey quits. Fortunately it didn't. From brits - past Twaneng crater - over the dam at rust de Winter - then onto cullinan and back to petit. Was actually quite tiring - we were bumping all the way. Was a good training ex - lot to take in - Permission for Waterkloof, routing instructions (eish they cleared us for 5500' through the corridor - then feeling the waves coming off the ridges over the dam - lots of turbulance. Interesting over all. We burned 30l of fuel. Some serious headwind on the first sector.

how much is the fuel now?

Stephan... you burn't 30l of fuel on a 2.5hr stint? That Cheetah definitely does not have a 582 up front!
That gives you a fuel burn of 12 litres / hour.... even with a 912 it does not sound correct! Help me out here....
Should be closer to 37 (15l/h) - 45 (18l/h) litres with two climb outs to cruise altitude.

Re: Some cheetah training time under the belt.
It's a 912S and there is something really funny with this plane's consumption. During circuit training it burns 10/11l an hour and yes it really only burnt 30l for this. It ran at 4900 rpm for most of the way and we get off full throttle quite early after initial climb out. Maybe I just fly her nicely
John fuel is 95 octane mogas at R9.41 per liter.

Hi Stephan
Thanks, you are so lucky in sa with the low fuel pricing.

+ 1.3 this morning. Did a consolidation of all the lessons so far. Basically ran through all of them again - covering the practise and theory while we were flying in the GF. Then went through all the emergencies, Fire, Engine out and precuationary landings. Tomorrow morning a bit of circuit bashing and hopefully they will be mainly solo with the instructor trusting his life in my hands....

Re: Some cheetah training time under the belt.
+1.1 this morning for 29 hours total. HAIR raising x-wind this morning. 20/25 mph - 90 degrees to the runway so did them alternately from both sides. I am very convinced now that a cheetah must be one of the best little airplanes around.
After doing quite few circuits and bumps this morning just to relax before doing the full stop landing for the morning we just went for a little hop. Doing a shallow dive(-130 feet/min) downwind we were seeing 225 km/h ground speed - whoo hoo
That was buzzing Microland but there were not trikes flying for some strange reason
The full stop landing back at Petit was also quite a nice one and even I was impressed - everything I learned just came together and the only thing that needed a little attention was that I let her drift a little to the left of the runway after the touchdown - have to remember that the flight isn't quite over at that point yet.
Directly after went for a flip in the 80hp Jabiru equipped one that Rainbow has at springs currently that is about to be shipped to Australia. It's not bad. Added some comments about that on my opinion on the cheetah thread.

+ 1.4 = 30.4 this morning. Quick impromptu flight to Springs for a touch and go - then onto Heidelburg for a touch and go then back home to Petit via nigel. Nice little flight. BUT the weather she's coming.
