Just a spanner in the works. If you are looking at spending R370K and want great endurance to fly long x-country trips to me it will make more sense to simply go and buy something like a cheetah or similar 3-axis plane. Then it's easier to do the long flights and you have 94 litres of fuel on board. The difference in getting the license ain't that great. 3-axis will also cruise at 90-100 mph and so you will actually get somewhere.
Nuts about Cheetahs. Petit is the place.

Maybe true, but it certainly is not as much fun.

Yeah this is one of those personal likes thing. I have owned and flown a trike before and My idea of Not fun.
1) having to squueze into a flight suit - just to realise you should have peed.
2) freezing your feet and hands not to mention any bits that might be exposed off on an early winter morning flight.
3) cruising around at 50 to 70 mph when you have to cover 500 km.
4) having to worry about where you put things like cameras etc. so they don't end up being blown through the prop.
Those are the things that really irritated me. In the 3 axis - in winter you arrive - take your jacket off - get in - put your stuff in the baggae area behind the seats - Pee anytime before you hop in the plane and have a nice flight that takes you where you want to be. If I feel like palying around - with flaps on she stalls at 30 mph - you can easily take the doors off if you really want wind in the hair flying so just as much fun.
But yes - there is a place to play with trikes and it's awesome around the puddle but they are not great x-country machines. SO if that is one of the things you want to do while flying perhaps one should re-consider the equipment used?.

I Had n windlass trike and was flying around the cabbadge patch until i also thought this is not for me . I baught myself a Skyranger and have been flying it ever since but also flying whith a rapter i discoverd maybe i have been in to mutch of a hurry to sell my Windlass. The Skyranger is mutch hotter in the winter and cruising speed is faster but freezing your hands of and having to get undresed to have a wee that is fun to but all and all i would like to have both vhpy

Hi Stephan,
I think they're loads more fun that a 3 Axis, my opinion! (**)
As for not great Cross Country, check out the Freedom Flight book, go to http://www.trike-expeditions.com or check out http://www.flyingthefalls.com www.flyingthefish.com and http://www.freetoadventure.com (**) (**)
Thanks for all the help guys!

I've watched lots of movies and done some of it in practise. I'd rather tow it there and fly around locally thanks. No this is really in the personal likes/dislikes area for sure but a trike ain't the best x-country machine for me for sure...
Perhaps you should jump on one first for 5 hours of x-country then we'll talk again. Maybe age also has something to do with it. When I was quite a bit younger it also sounded more fun.
