Well, weather hasnt been playing along! Coundnt fly over the weekend, but managed get my first flight yesterday! Need to adjust aeleron balance now, as at mauw, we needed to hold left stick. Rudders now balanced.

Otherwise flies well, doesnt handle like a tail dragger on the ground! Climbs at 950 fpm, 90 mph! with max auw. Wants to fly at 130 mph, or more

Makes it all worth while!

Will report when I know more, hopefully after the weekend.

She's a beaut Larry!

Are the NACA slots on the cowl for cooling (oil cooler) and do you have them ramped and ducted?

Any gen on performance yet?

See, the old fart still looks grumpy when he is enjoying himself, hence my nickname for him. I usually get the finger very rigid when I call him Grumpy.

Lovely to see such familiar scenery, Larry, I am inspired to visit very soon. The one photo shows the ridge between King & Gray, I love the descent from Hogsback, past Coolins & the ridge & the last doem doompie just before the FAPA gf, man I am jealous, such a lovely aerie, enjoy, boet, coming from someone who wears this t shirt, you can tell the stories. vhpy vhpy vhpy vhpy vhpy

RV Sometime-
got the t shirt, been to the show.

Flew past hogsback etc last week - fetched our crashed and rebuilt trike for jhb. Had a miserable flight, 5 hours on wednesday, 3.5 hours hours on thursday morning. Very bumpy, not nice trike conditions!

With regards performance, no exact figures yet, with still trying out rigging etc, but last week when I flew, she seems to want to cruise at 130 mph plus. Stall clean ok, drops left wing after a buffet, stall with flap at about 40 mph, with a sharp left wing drop!
Stick / aelerons seem balanced now, need to look at rudder trim, then should be sorted. Will fit spats and fairings soon, and radio / transponder.

The Naca vents - one is straight open onto the oil cooler, which is mounted just behind the opening, and the other one - left side - is ducted into the air intake / carb heat box. seem to be working well. This whole installation was done at jab factory, in george.

Yip, Piper arrow, flown by my son who just finished his com at 43, was photo platform, got some great shots

Hehehehe

You are not the same Grumpy as my mate Grumpy. We have approximately 300 hrs together in the cockpit. He is my navigator in the air race & we are very good friends.

We always start talking about those nice things with wonderful assets that give us men an incredibly hard time very soon after the cockpit door is closed, our record has been before even shouting "clear prop". He may be old & grumpy, but we share a fascination for the softer sex vhpy vhpy vhpy vhpy vhpy

Nice, Larry, I will be booking a commercial ticket in the next couple of weeks for Slummies & would love to meet you at FAGT over that weekend. My old man also lives in Kenton & is having lens replacements soon & I want to visit him after the op.
