Hi Leftseat

I have tried to upload photos but all sorts of strange things happen. Will try to post them when I get to learn how to.

(**) (**) (**) (**) After much frustration in trying to get the pump to work I finally discovered that if I take power directly from the battery and connect the pump it works just fine but when I connect it to the power that I have tapped from the power going to my instruments the pump sounds to run a lot faster and pumps nothing. Could the power going to the instruments be slightly booster somewhere thus causing the pump to run faster???? :? :? :?

Impossible, unless of course the direct battery connection was done while the plane motor was off, i.e. 12V off the battery, and the other while the engine was running, and thus the charging circuit was pumping out 13.8V. Measure your charging voltage. A Regulator will fail to a very high voltage, 17 V if faulty.

It also doesnt make sence to me. Only the ignition was switched on , engine not running. Will see if I can get a measuring meter from somewhere and check the voltages from both sources

What does happen is the pump changes tone, starting out quite noisy when sucking air to when fuel is flowing and eventually becoming quite quiet when under pressure and no fuel is flowing.

You will notice when you use it for priming your carbs before starting, it will start of fairly noisy, and as so as pressure has built up it will sound dull.

My kite had been standing for a month when, last Thursday, I took a friend for a flip. With the Facet energised, the Rattex fired up immediately whereas previously it was quite a dice whether the donkey would wake up before the battery was churned flat. A must have, IMHO.

Hi guys,

This has made for interesting reading. I have bought a uncompleted Bushbaby and it came with a facet pump. Stefan at Kitplanes suggested I install the pump. But being new to this I am not sure its the correct type and cant see the 401 numbers you guys all talk about.

below is a pic.
