Thought I would share some photos taken with onboard flycam.

I always wanted to be able to take vids and pics whilst flying from the exterior of the aircraft, then I found this some video's posted on youtube using Flycamone which is actually for model aircraft.
So I purchased it online and I am quite impressed.
Have got it mounted under the wing at the moment just with Velcro. I want to place it on the rudder next for tailcam action.

Clive

How do you do the download.

What are the storage capabilities of the flycam?

What was the cost of the unit?

Yes, stunning photos, thanks for sharing !

It looks like a Garmin 296 @ top left.

Yes correct Rudix, garmin 296 in top left.

Flycamone2 has SD card slot. Storage capacity of maximum 2gb which is good for about 45 minutes of video at 640x480res at 25fps or you can set for photo's which are continuously taken every 4 seconds at 1280X1024res.
Dowload to PC is via USB connection and chrging is done through USB as well.

The only issues I had were under very cold conditions external to the cockpit, the small LIPO battery installed fails to discharge. I then used and RC battery pack connected to external pin connections which sorted the problem.

Got mine online from http://www.benchmarkmodels.co.za for R750.00 minus SD card.

SD cards have to be 133x or higher though.

Since the cubby is now at Rand I tend to find ANY excuse to go watch the sun set... Friday the wind was 18kts 320 gusting 22kts. Was a bit apprehensive, but man it was FUN... Cost all of R60 (excl. land fees, but I did not have time to go to Panorama and I was only traffic)....     Even in the smog there is something to be said puttering around the patch at 700ft AGL with the door open......

Subsequent to that I have done 3 similar sorties with the door open. All I can say is s023 s023 s023 s023 s023 s023 s023 ......

I am still KAK at this video thing, so quality is poor... (And the goggo guts on the perspex would just not come off)

I don't think that's a Cubby ! It looks like a Piper J3 Cub to me ?

The daddy of the Cubbys vhpy

I have had my eye on a Cubby for a while, looks like a fun plane with lots of character at a good price.
