Hi All,
I am doing a quick poll on who is keen to join in for a weekend with a difference to the Mafikeng Airshow on 27 Sept?
To quote one of the organisors "This is the Mother of local airshows!"
CC Pocock is attempting to break a record for longest firewall and there will be a host of other attractions.
I am planning an overnight stop-over at Groot Marico (2 thirds of the way between Gauteng and Mafikeng) Camping Friday and Saturday Night, whatever you fancy. Some great sights and fantastic flying in the area.
Both runways will be complete (see post below) 380m and 780m

Will be there with tons of Explosives, Special Effects and Fireworks! The largest pyrotechnics display ever seen at an airshow in Africa!
Maybe some flying too.
Cheers

Jees Guys!!
Surely not everybody is going to Numbi next weekend.
I've chatted to the organisers and they have some great events planned for just before and after sunset, so the Parachute Club have kindly offered for us to camp over and use their facilities on Saturday evening. (Toilets, showers etc)
A few of us are leaving on Friday around lunch-time, camping over at Groot Marico Friday night and then taking a scenic route to Mafikeng on Saturday morning. returning Sunday.
We would welcome any microlighters to join us.

And you guys are still hesitating!!!from CC on Avcom posting wrote: Re: Mafikeng Airshow 27 Sept

I arrived today in my T-41as I'll be doing a "Crazy Flying" display on the day and my crew arrived with pyro vehicles and trailers. We starting to set up the pyrotechnics hardware tomorrow morning.
The only thing I can tell you all now is that the highlight is going to be a 45 minute "Mini War" involving the Army , SAAF (Rooivalk, Oryx, C130, Impala) and lots of pyrotechnics ending in the largest "Wall of Fire" explosion ever seen in the southern hemisphere!(Wall of Fire participating Aircraft still to be confirmed however were hoping at using a C130 or otherwise the L39). Shortly afterwards a 25 minute High Impact Fireworks display to end of the show.
See you all here!
Cheers
CC
The offer still stands to join us. For those not going to Numbi... stop being such sissies and get out of the cabbage patch!

This is sounding better and better ! Will pack the plane after tomorrows flying for a quick get-away on Friday !
So where are all the others ? It is not that far (About 190 miles from Rhino to FAMM) with the option to land at Rustenburg along the way is needed.
Will chat tomorrow,
Regards,
Rudi
