Most companies will cover disability, but with a loading. My loading was 100% of the premium, but at R350/month for R 1 700 000 cover, I think its worth it.

Daveyboy, luckily my group life doesnt exclude aviation on income protection. On a normal life policy, they are generally stricter on underwriting for income protection than disability.

Anyone have knowledge of Profmed whether it covers. I was told so that they will cover verbally but do not have it in writing.

JUST A BIG THANKS TO ALL FOR THEIR HELP WITH MY ENQUIRY =D*

I said I would come back once I have some answers. Been back and forth for the past couple of weeks. One thing I can say is that some Medical Aid companies do not know what they cover you for. A lot of Brokers told me they have tried to find cover and could not. ##

The truth is, there are some knowledgeable people out there and there are companies willing to cover us "Garden Furniture Flyers". The more expensive the policy the more likely that they will cover. Some are very expensive....... but make sure you get a letter from them, as policies do change, especially if you have been on a medical for long and they covered you in the past. Find out if you are covered now.
Naspers (A closed medical for Media employees)
CAMAF ( A closed medical for Chartered Accountants)
Fedhealth
Bestmed
Momentum
Discovery

There may be more, but at least there are more than what was found by "Brokers".
I am now going with Momentum as their rates are excellent.

Thanks for all the help everyone. Safe flying and make sure you will be covered... vhpy

Medshield. Myself, wife and one child R1150.00 per month. Covers aviation. When I had my accident in May 2008 the reports from doctors stated flying accident, they paid it no questions asked.

Anyone interested contact my wife Michelle 0845889922.
