I will go and have a look. But by golly, you did come over my place at Witwatersberg like a KWiK possessed by a  Demon !!!!! 15h30 I think. Looked good with Ratman out on the left.

A very beautifull photo record. Damn though for not having a photo of my place. Missed it between Pelindaba and Jimmy Kruger's runway. But then again, it is difficult to take a photo beneath you !

What was Ratman flying ? Seemed almost a good 10kts slower, but could also have been a perception because he was at least 1km further away from my point of view. :?:

Hi Uncle Spud, read a lot about you lately and glad to know you by now.

The Demon photos takes you from Northern Johannesburg (ABSA balloon at Montecasino Casino) to an area 20km west of Pretoria at Pelindaba (South Africa's (ex) Nuclear research plant with the cooling towers in the photo's) over some waterskiing shots at Hartebeespoortdam. The area is what we call Highveld (Johannesburg at 5000 ASL) to Semi-Bushveld (Hartbeespoortdam at 3700 ASL). Phalaborwa is classified as Bushveld and might be similar from the air as Hartbeespoort (Harties). Difference is that P'borwa is lower ASL than Harties and shielded by mountains and closer to the tropic. On any typical day you will find JHB temperatures at e.g. 20 degrees, Pretoria 22 degrees, Harties 24 degrees and then 300km NE of JHB you have Phalaborwa at a wopping 32 degrees.

Makes sence ? One thing haven' a map in front of me, another to type what I see !

Cheers and Groetnis.

Vriendelike Groete Kloot Pilot,

Dankie for the thread. 32 degrees!!!!!!!! Eish as Demon say's. That's 94F and it gets to 40c. Mustaphapool, mustaphapool, mustaphapool. Is it cooler higher up I must enquire, cause that's where I will live between Dec and Feb, so I will.

With the help of guys like you, I am beginning to recognise area's now when talked about, so dankie for the info you gave, appreciated. Appreciated very much.
