Postby Trikenut » Sun Jul 27, 2008 2:39 pm

Hi All,
If I got an Aerotrike Cobra 912 with nose fairing which would be better a Spirit or enerG wing? :?

Hi Trikenut,

I do not think you should ask which wing is better than another..I am of an opinion that no wing is better than another...It all depends upon the specific use and application for which you require the wing.
With that motor of yours you can use a fast wing. Check out www.aerotrike.co.za. For speed the Profi looks like a great wing. Alternatively speak to Jenya from AerosSA at Petit about the topless. He exports them and a couple of guys from Petit fly with that wing and are most imprest with the speed and stability not even mentioning the quality and workmanship. The telephone lines were stolen a while ago, not sure if it has been replaced since..0119650744 or 0828538239.

Worth every penny! On the 582 i cruise 58mph hands off (4700rpm & 12ltrs/hr) and thats with the hangpoint @ the back. Pull in a little it goes up to 60-65mph (5500RPM 17-19ltrs/hr) still with the hangpoint @ the back position. Pull back more - 75mph easy (5900RPM-6000RPM (23ltrs+/hr) and this with the wing in its slowest setup (hangpoint setting). There is however a problem - with the 582 i have to be carefull of to much weight i.e a pax and full tanks - the wing does not have as much lift as some of the other wings but makes up for it in speed! just watch the weight a bit more carefully. with a 912 - no problem!

The profi is great and fast wing, the cobra with a Spirit Wing and 582, indicates 60 mph with the hangpoint in fast position and bar neutral, with a ff of 12 l/hr

Obviously, the slower (bigger) the wing, better the lift at low speed and climb on take-off with weight. I still prefer the Spirit as a good all rounder.

Hi Guys (and gals)
Cobra: They now make the enerG wing which is slightly better than the Spirit.
Frequent Flyer: I like the aeros' speed but also lift is nice.
The only problem with the Aeros is the price and waition so long for parts.
More input from all please!

Thanks

george, what do you mean - i'm a normal size guy, you guys are small vhpy no seriously, theres enough lift solo with full tanks but compared to other wings it lacks a bit. Would not change it for anything - maybe a topless - if the speed range stays the same. I flew a aquilla with aquilla II wing for 300hrs and got used to it's easy handling, lift ect. I then bought the cobra and struggled a bit getting used to it - much heavier in the turn than aquilla, very light in the pitch but handled a lot better in turbulance and wind. Since i bought the cobra, i started flying longer distances and even midday flight! Something new for me i promise you! And its all in the wing! Yes the extra weight of the undercariage also plays a roll but again - awsome wing.

I'm not sure what price. Comes standard with the Cobra and Scout.
Contact Aerotrike to find out. sales@aerotrike.co.za
It has a VNE of 90MPH, a climb rate of 900ft/min, a cruise speed of 65mph and a take off run of 60m!
Pretty good! vhpy

I have the Spirit and very happy with it, plenty of lift with two up and close to MTOW it still has plenty of lift and thats with a 503 at sea level.

Handling wise it is very stiff complared to the profi and an aquila wing i few with. Definitly takes some muscle power to get the thing to manouver.

Cannot comment on the enerG

We bought another topless three will be flying soon should be here next week Jenya is great wing fly well and they are build like a tank ,
but if R36 000 is already to much don't even look at the topless , just remember a trike is just something you put your ass in, the wing does the flying and I have said it before if you want to spend money on a trike spend it on the wing!!!!!!!!!
my two cents
