Gert,

You must check your antenna on your radio. Sunday I heard you call overhead Morning Star, we were just north of Koeberg Hills. I called you for a land and chat but no response :(

When I got to MS I heard you call overhead Altona and again no reponse from you when I called :(

Anyway see you sometime :D

We had a very funny problem with one of our Trikes. ZU-CIF's transmission cound only be heard by aircraft in front of it, and not behind it. This made flying into FAVG a lot of fun, because you had to turn to face the direction of the tower, otherwise they could not hear you! On a busy day, outbound it could get rather complicated  :D Could hear everyone, they just could not hear me. New arial. All sorted.

Gert

Before you spend a lot of cash and go to huge effort - just check that you did not have the volume turned down. Others will hear you but you will not hear them. I have called you before and received no response, so having your comms checked before the next flight is a good idea.

Gert... If you'v got your antenna on the front of your pod, then install a coupla lengths of copper tape (horizontally) as a base plane and solder connectors on the tape to hook up to the your Antenna earth - sorted out my comms once and for all

My antenna is under the trike - parallel to the carraige base tube. I will change the angle and see what happens. However, I do hear and am able to transmit to others, so not sure that this is the problem. Am going tomorrow morning to FAWF to see how I am going to tie down the trike, how I am going to fix a jerry can and put my Goped on it for next weeks trip to Springbok. Any suggestions on any/all the above appreciated....

2 hours flying this morning. Got at FAWF at the early hour of 08h00 to find Trygve and Ianrw ready to go. Ian telling me I should get up earlier. Maybe when I am as old I would also have a problem sleeping. Looked at the electric trim on his trike. Great idea. My next upgrade.

Hmmmm...so the plan was to fly tomorrow morning at sunrise all the way to Lambertsbay or on to Vredendal. Looking at the winds for tomorrow...prediction "fresh" south westerly getting stronger throughout day.
See the "sport" graphs @http://www.weathersa.co.za/Aerosport/Fc ... jsp?area=3

More windy at sea than inland. So the options are inland to Moorreesburg and then on to Elandsbay and Lambertsbay & Vredendal. The other option is to wait for Friday, when the prediction is "moderate", get an early start and fly all the way to Springbok, or at least Hondeklipbay. If you look at my log 2000-09-03 we flew 285 miles that day, and the trip to Springbok as planned is 315 - so if all goes well quite doable.

So what would YOU do?

Elsewhere it was said
In plain English please Gert for us what has not had a larny public school education.....
and now
Stay at home and watch the Bulls kick butt!
Contrary to unpopular belief I went to a school in Transvaal where one of the three Rs we were forcefed was RRRRRugby. Developed an adversion and never watch it.

You can imagine what the other two Rs were.

Jaco and myself had a GREAT time - more information to follow soon! Thanks to everyone at FASB, especially Di for looking after us so well!

A PREVIEW OF THE VIDEO CLIP I AM PREPARING IS NOW AVAILABLE - WITHOUT SOUNDTRACK OR COMMENTARY. IT IS 1M AND CAN BE DOWNLOADED FROM www.zu-dve.com

THE VIDEO CLIP IS A SMALL SIZE - THE FINAL WILL BE ABOUT 20MINUTES AND TOO LARGE FOR DOWNLOADING - I WILL COPY IT TO CD FOR ANYONE WHO WANTS IT. IT WILL CONSIST OF A SLIDE SHOW, VIDEO CLIPS AND THE SOUNDTRACK WE LISTENED TO AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN ON THE MP3 PLAYER I HAD CONNECTED.

I had no idea what Jaco was up to sitting in the back for 14 hours - now you will see the result! He took over 600 pictures - and thankfully did not sing along with the MP3 track.
