Re: Contaminated fuel

Postby Tumbleweed » Tue Aug 05, 2008 2:22 pm

Has anyone considered /tried filtering fuel through the (white 20 mm thick) fibrous matting found in air con filters/ kitchen stove extractors/ friend's flight suit linings?

I has'nt tried or gone a far as checking with a microscope whether any fibres come loose and flow with the fuel, but am told by a large user that the better quality product should not release particles and would work well?

Seems a good idea when getting fuel from a suspect source.

By the way, had a 25 lt plastic container with the 'approved' logo underneath ( looks like 3 squares joining each other) identifying suitable for solvents burst a seam just as I had put a splash of juice and gave a good shake to rinse out. Have always used them but inmediatly invested in the proper jerry can with the hinged fit nozzle and breather system.
Was going to strap on the back seat to keep me company.

I use it with pre mixed fuel and can't see that it does not work. It would be a good idea to use at the garage when filling up your jerry's and then when you fill up your plane. I have the black one and it is great.

I am sure you can get it for less than us$42. Just make sure that you don't pay to much. I have seen them for as little as Au$33

Hi,

You can get the funnels from Aircraft Spruce in the USA http://www.aircraftspruce.com/. Placo are the agents for Aricraft Spruce in South Africa. If you order via Placo, it takes about three weeks for the stuff to arrive, although they promise you delivery in 12 days. Prices worked out 1US$ on the spruce price to about R10.00. Placo give you a quote before, but I once had to pay more when I collected the goods   Spruce charges for the F15c US$49.85 and for the F1c US$13.60

I would be interested in two funnels, the F1c to take along in my pannier bag, for when refueling away from base, and the F15c to use at the petrol station when filling my fuel cans.

Regards,
Arnulf

Getting better and better. If it carries on like this I should be able to get a decent saving on the freight charges. Once I have PM'd everyboday then let me know which club/airfield that you fly from and I can send bulk packs to that destination for all those that have ordered.

Cheers,

Groete Leftseat,

Reference carriage cost's for filters. Don't want to tread on any toes, but

Emigrating to the land of the biltong when house is sold. Leaving our furniture behind but bringing the rest of our life with us in a bloody gr8 box, sooooooooooooooooo!!!

If people don't mind waiting until our goods arrive, I can load up this end, depending upon how big they are. No charge for carriage and if I had the money I would buy one for you all, so I would. !!!!

If I can be of service, do ask asseblief s024

I would be interested in two funnels, the F1c to take along (mobile) and the F15c to use at the petrol station when filling up.
