While posting your message scroll down - look for the tab that says "Upload attachment" - it has a certain size requirement and if it is too big it will bitch.

If it bitches - bitch at me to fix it for you!

and PS - if you click on the odd advert now and then and browse around the advertiser site for a few clicks we get a few cents towards the costs...

Don't go madly clicking away though - click on stuff you like and interact, just never enter you CC unless you are really buying something!

When I tried a short while ago - was pretty slow. Not sure if it was the ads loading that slowed it down.

Who is providing the uncapped line? Also is it shaped or an unshaped offering?

Try it again slysi
Yip, all better thanks.

I also don't mind the ads. Will it bring in some moola to cover costs?

Thanks DH.

Have you done any capacity calculations?

Just thinking off the top of my head so calcs may be off, but with ADSL even on a 4mb ADSL line, the highest upstream rate you are likely to get would be around 500kbit/s. As I type this there are 15 users on the site so 500/15 would give each user roughly 33kbit/s. A dial up modem gives around 56kbit/s so the response for any number of users over 10 would equate to dial up speeds or worse.

Have I missed something, or has my brain left for the afternoon and gone flying on it's own. It is likely  , but can someone check me on this one and correct me if I am wrong. Or have you found a way to change the symmetry on the line so that what would normally be your downstream becomes your upstream?
