loehle mustang repair

Postby overhex » Fri Jul 18, 2008 8:39 pm

Hi folks i bought the little 5151 that crashed i am in 2 minds as to keeping it or rather selling.Reason being i have no knowledge as to where i can source local wood and also what kind to use and this applies to the resin ,fabric and paint. The wings have very litle damage and so the main box spar plus control surfaces.Any advice would be much appreciated the bigest work is to splice in the longerons that has been broken.Best regards Stephan cell 0727645554 or 0828511274.Hi there im in Brits just north of pretoria.

Hi Stephan. I can help u , I have 4000 plus hours of wood and fabric time.
Wood- clear Oregon pine or clear Salygna
Glue- Epidermix 372
Fabric- PolliFiber(nice but expensive), Tri-3 (Nice and cheap), Ceconite (lots of elbow grease)

Call me I can explain the 1:15 min scarf joints and grain direction u have to look at according to the AC-43.
