It does not have dual controls. So I have to wait for my 10hours dual to pass together with obtaining my radio licence and passing all subjects. Then I will do the last hours on mine. Some pics I took before doing the payment. Thanks again Graham!

Going for my flight medical at 10 O'clock with dr Stoner in Cape Town today. Just want to get this over with - Solo is getting closer slowly but surely.
Next training session is set for this weekend. Hope to get atleast 3 hours in if weather plays along.

Took them 3 hours to do it! Nogals n private hospital but damn, they work slow. Just chest X tay took an hour and a half. Anyways, glad this is done and nothing wrong with me. Imagine sitting with a trike and not being able to get a flight medical certificate
So what else do I need to get for SPL - 3/4 id fotos?

We are going up to Kruger so it's going to be lovley weather!

What an excellent weekend for flying! Got another 2 hours done. Went well, did my first take off - good feeling. Cant wait to do more of those. My instructor let me practice some circuits with some low flying right above runway. Now this got my attention...Must admit My muscles could not help to go completely stiff. My right calf muscle went into a spasm and every time I get close to the ground my arms go stiff as if I am flying in turbulence. Instructor must think I totally freeze up but I still keep control - not fine control but I stay in the air
First three attempts I kept ballooning the trike, to much bar out (a bit strange for me at the moment to pull the bar in, just above the runway, and then still give power) kept ballooning the plane - allot of speed and to much bar out. Fourth attempt was very good (although muscles a bit stiff!) I kept the same height for most of the runway - the best feeling to do that! Your bum really is much more than just an arse, it speaks to you, or acts like a radar for when you get close to mother earth.
Hope next weekend the weather is flyable. Better get my SPL ready. Should be ready within a month or two to go solo me thinks - will keep you guys posted

Yes allot of fun indeed. Could only fly for 0.5hours this past Saturday as thick mist kept us grounded for a very long time! Even thou I had the best 30min out of all 5 hours till thus far. Took off and then joined the circuit to practice good approach on finals and then keeping the plane just above the runway then powering up again. Second attempt I only held just above 4300 rpm and there I went and done my very first landing! Got a fright when I felt the back wheels touch down as the instructor did not say anything about doing touch and goes
But he congratulated me on a successful landing so I applied full throttle again for a touch and go. Did the same twice after which I was shown a slower landing where one pushes the bar out all the way gently just before touch down - very nice feeling and sounded easy enough. Was ordered to make it a full stop so I had to make this one count. Unfortunately I pushed the bar out when we were still a tad high and the touch down was not as smooth as was demonstrated to me before
Still not a bad landing. Now I just want to learn more. Getting very interesting, enjoying this more than I could imagine. Still got allot to learn I know. Turbulent and cross wind landings are still to be experienced. Then I need a few hours just doing more circuits.
Next session planned for Saturday if weather plays along.

3 hours added over the weekend. Circuits and landings were practiced. I did a few power on landings where after I was shown a power off/simulated engine out landing on the down wind section. Did a few of those. Went very well. Definitely becoming more comfortable in a trike. Landings not such a shock to my system anymore. After each landing I open the throttle to come airborne quickly and then I pull the bar in and do some very low flying till half way down the runway (wind sock as the beacon) where I push the bar out quite a bit to gain altitude (allot of speed was generated from the bar in and full throttle). Also 02/20 runway at FAWF is nice and long!
Then I also spent over an hour & half getting ground lectured in Navigation. Then after filling the map in etc we went for a flight to Langebaan lagoon via Darling, routing back right along the cost to Bokpoint, where I had to find my way back to base. Easy as there are huge wind generators a few km from the field.
All and all went very very well. Enjoyed every second of it. Although thinking back the leg between Darling and Langebaan was sh@t cold!!! Went to 2500ft to clear some big clouds. I need to get better gloves!
All documentation has been signed and handed over to my instructor so that my SPL can be obtained. This will proberly determine the solo date.

Yes I am very privileged and blessed to be able to fly. Going for a flight over Langebaan lagoon is highly recommended. First trip that I'll take my wife on will be the same route as above. Flew right above flocks of flamingos that are on the lagoon. Including a shipwreck. This can not bee seen by simply driving in a vehicle.
O yes. Watch out for the helicopters flying low level down the coast aswell!..

Did plus minus 40 landings this weekend. Power on landings, glide in landings. Down wind engine out landings (engine on idle), Upwind emergency landings. Went very very well! Really enjoying this so much! Plan is to go solo this coming weekend. Just gonna do a few more landings etc. then go for it!
