Anyway, Z-codes is a spesific code for each craft. ie. Windlass is Z127, Aquilla Z156, Aerotike ZZ03 etc.
You get permission with each conversion to fly a Z-code, and that you place in your logbook under type.

For the weekend, the weather is still dodgy. Will wait to bit closer to the time, but maybe a friday afternoon fly-in and don't know when out.

Yup... would have been good to see/meet y'all again and I need to chat with Johan regarding my license renewal.

Haven't been to many meetings this year I'm afraid... just moved to West Beach a few weeks ago, then off to Botswana and Zambia for a little R&R... excellent flying weather there by the way... Daan Brink's operation had aircraft in the air from 7am till sunset!

The wife doesn't need much convincing to go to Saldanha... she too is getting tired of engine starts and Whiskey Romeo exercises...

Ummm... thats "Wheel Rotation".... otherwise known as a short taxi around the field.

Hi GR8-DAD,

I'm sorry that I didn't had the chance to meet you, but things were a bit hectic, as you said.

Herwith just a pic, courtesy of Gert Coetzee, of my "bundu bashing" .

The sweet and the short: We were sitting in a que at holding point 02 for a time as ATC did his best to get trafic flowing. After getting the clear from ATC to follow Jabi on backtrack of 02, I entered and backtracked with gert following me for about 50 meters. He lined up, and I turned around to follow him. At 200 feet AGL, my engine just desided to loose all power, and I subsequently had to do a E-Landing in the veld accross the road. I had to choose between a car approaching on the road and a couple of cows in the veld. Luckily the cows decided to open up. Even the medic, with his first aid kit, came running to me to see if everything was ok. Luckily nothing damaged, exept for my ego.

Pushed trike back to FASD, about 400m. and then quickly fixed the problem and took some extra fuel for my trip to Aurora.

Why: I installed a Facet pump in series. And didn't switch the pump on for take-off, and that led to fuel starvation on the carbs, which led to power loss on the engine. I bypassed the pump and fuelflow for my trip to aurora and everything was fine.

I still don't think it was the Facet pump, but we removed it out of the fuel system for the mean time. There are many aircraft using exactly the same installation with no problems. The facet allows fuel through without hinderance when off. It could be that fuel filter sucked air, a restriction in the fuel flow meter etc. The fact that the fuel flow was showing 30 liters per hour when you know that it was only using 13 says something.

True, Since then all was ok, so I am still contemplating the fuel flow meter issue. I didn't realy miss it, allthough it is a nice to have. I need to do some settings on my prop as well, only got 5900 revs when we took off this morning. Might be why my fuel consumption is so high.

What was it before?

Low max rpm means high pitch, means nice cruise but not nice climb. Should also give you better fuel consumption to a point and then it will get heavier because you have to labour the motor. It's like pulling off in third. Watching you on Saturday she is climbing very well.
