What did you fly this week
Hi Ian. Honestly I think the Gemini is the best all round handling Trike I have ever flown. The wing is just awesome. Next as all round I would vote for the Blade.
The Pegasus Quantum. I dont like its landing and takeoff characteristics. There is no way you can get it off the ground unless its ready to fly. This I guess is a good safety aspect as you wont get someone stalling on take off.
The landing is vitually a three wheeler every time. It does not have the nose high attitude and flare that the Mainair aircraft have. Therefore your landings are usually fairly fast. I prefer the Mainair approach and flair.
Actually I have just fitted hydraulic disc brakes to both rear wheels. Now I can stop.
Once the Pegasus is in the air. Wow. She is wonderful to fly. Very agile and a huge speed range. It will fly from below 40 mph to a genuine 84mph. So if I can get over the landing and takeoff, I will be a very happy chappy.
Winds in Joeys this week have been horrible. Lots of damage to property. Grateful our hangar OK. We will go to Crosswinds on Friday to fetch Demon's plane. If he is good I might even let him fly me there in the Pegasus.
P.S. Watch this space for the new Pegasus 450GT

Get the image up on the screen, press CTRL-Print Scrn. THis will copy the whole screen image into the clipboard. Open up your favorite image editing program such as paint and paste the image in there. A proper editing application is better because you can put in comments, add other images etc and you can size the image. You don't want the file size too big because it will slow down the dowloading in the image. I prefer to keep the size of the file less than 100K
You now need to publish this image on the web somewhere. Usually your ISP (Internet Service Provider) will allow you to have a small homepage with up to 10Mb of data. Save your file to this place (your ISP will tell you how to do it)
Lets assume your URL for the homepage is http://www.homepage.co.za and the file name is myimage.jpg.
Now to put this in a message just select New topic or Post reply. Select the img button and put the URL of the image in and select the IMG button again. You should have something that looks like this http://www.myhomepage.co.za/myimage.jpg between the two messages
At any time you can select Preview to see if it is working. Once happy, press submit.

Hi Robin - you have to first print the map to a file, then crop it and trim it down to a downloadable size. I normal just save it to the desktop then to make it smaller. Select the pic you want to make smaller in Windows explorer, Right Click - Send to - Mail recipient - XP will ask you if you want it made smaller, agree to the prompt and a new message will be opened with the pic as an attachment.
Then just save the attachment to a convenient place and trash the mail (like the desktop and overwrite it).
Here is the tricky part, you need to find a host to upload the pictures to. Most people use the accounts at their ISPs or some use http://www.photobucket.com.
Now you have to link it... Find out what the URL of the picture is and paste it in a post here as and image, you type to tell the server you are posting a picture. That should be it!

I put in 50 minutes this morning. Weather was absolutely perfect, not a breath of wind and remarkably warm up there. Cruised around between MS, Goedverwagcht, Grootfontein, Altona, Ou Malmes and De Goede. I didn't want to go and land but had to get to work. :D
AUKie is now 499.45 hours old. I'll need to do something special on her next flight, she did get a new front tyre but I think a little champers (or just a six pack of beer) will be neccessary after the next flight.

I've been spoilt yet again as it turned out to be brilliant day and another excellent early morning flip with the Rietfontein lads..
After a lattish start waiting for Twitch
the Batman & moi followed the others, via the Dome & Dainfern over to Flo's place.
The other guys headed over to the big water by the hills (Harties Dam)
Flo and I jumped into the Bat's Gemini to do Flo's conversion.
After an uneventful dash over to the training field and a T&G (Flo's obviously done this stuff before) we headed back. Flo tried the short cross runway, but to no avail - probably giving everyone on the ground a little tension headache in the process
.
Not perturbed went around and after a straight in approach over the K/Dorp highway, landed on the main runway...Back safe and sound. Thanks Flo - fly with u anytime
A little bit of rock & roll on the way back to Rietfontein, the usual friendly and efficient Lanseria chaps sheparded us through their busy space.. BeetleJuice told me later thyr having a little function at Rietfontein for the LANS ATC guys..
reckon we could all learn a lesson from this on how to get along with the people behind the voices in the tower.
Anyway we got back and contrary to last weeks efforts to get back in one piece on the ground, greased the Gemini in - getting the hang of this Zero Moiya(air in zulu me finks ?)" flying
After waiting around AGAIN
for the rest of the troop to return ( cause Batman left his keys at Flo's
) we headed back to fetch said keys, then back at Rietfontein to help with some hanger housekeeping as a token of my appreciation - A Huge big thanks again guys for the great hospitality and flip
Picked up a seriously good packet of Viennas & Chips and a Coke down the local and headed off to the Hotel for a few hrs kip before the next round of burning the midnight oil at Vodacom (24hrs straight).
The flight just made it all so very bearable & worthwhile! Thanks Batman

Sunday, I called CLU-less whose trike is currently grounded due to the Aeros wing issue. He happily joined me as PAX to celebrate AUKie's 500th (hour)birthday. We took of on a fairly cloudy day (cloudbase 3000' AMSL) and headed up towards Malmesbury, with a Bushbaby in tow. We ran into some drizzle so opted to head west into the Delta 200 before cruising on home to Morning Star. CLU-less took some pics which I am waiting for. 45 Minutes of happiness :D :D
Monday morning weather was too good, and besides going up to JHB this week so probably the last chance to fly her. I went up in absolutely glassy conditions. A nice little jaunt along the coast to see whales, none

Ja, sh1t Wart - you not wrong - was awesome. Left FAVG, fly to Cato, had a kickass greasy Mildred style egg and bacon for brekkies, then flew to Hilton College, Howick Falls, Midmar, Nottingham road, Mooi River, and then landed at some padstal next to he highway for a drink (GRAPETIZER!!!) and back to drop Wart at Cato. Then, flew like the devil was chasiong me, and FAVG made me orbit, and orbit, and orbit at Sibaya Casino for about 10 mins. Managed to land, and was 1 min late. Not to Shabby. Yes Wart, we do live in the most beautiful province (oops, flamesuit, bulletproof vest on)wart wrote:kb picked me up at Cato on Saturday to join him on a flight inland in the R22, but I am sure that he can fill you in on the details?

Hey Demon, heard you calling on 124.0 late afternoon (I was busy wind-ing new student pilot). Thought - damn, demon has got brave since the blunderturds showed him how it's donedemon wrote:Clocked a groundspeed of 31 mph heading towards Tarlton yesterday, and hit 107 mph heading back![]()
