Absolutely awesome pictures.

I have done the Bike SA Namib desert run, for motorcycles, twice through that part of the world. In 2001 two gyros joined us on the trip. Overnighted with us on route, and flew all the way up to Swakop. vhpy At that stage I was so ignorant about flying, that I didn't even know what the difference was between a gyro and a trike.

I watched the video a few times where they show the one gyro (White Magni ) in flight, but unfortunately can't see the registration. I'm really curious as to who the two pilots were.

Since I started flying, one of my dreams are to join on that trip in the air - about 200 - 300 km/day.

The trip is usually round about the easter weekend, and starts the Saturday in Kuruman, to Van Zylsrus, then along the Molopo river for the first overnight at Askham/Andriesvale. (est 290 km)

Sunday from Askam, past the Hakskeenpan, through the Rietfontein border post - the gyros actually landed and taxiid through the border gate - to Koes - pronounced Kois - (est 230 km)

Monday - Koes, along the Olifantsriver to Gochas, Stampriet, Winhoek - (est 450 km)

Tuesday - Windhoek, over the Khomas Hochland to Swakopmund. (est 260 km)

Wednesday and Thursday are for playing in the dunes at Walvisbay - or overhead.

The trip upwards must be awesome with lots of action on the ground, and groundcrew can enjoy as well. vhpy

It is the 1600 km back that scares me.

The bike run started with 17 enthusiasts somewher in the 90's. They now have two runs annually with around 700 people, and 500 bikes/quads.

Maybe one must think about joining the bike run up to halfway and then coming back. Can be an awesome trip..
.......or start our own trip.

The groundbreaking was done already.
