Re: RV & RV4ker's (JCVB's) Explorer Project
Today, while the sloshing compound was drying in sir Morphs tanks, I decided the Animal needs a bit of aerodynamic clean-up. So I started cutting alu offcuts, and got VERY busy with my little hammer.........

Hi Boet,
Those fairings look superb.
What grade Alu did you use?
Kind regards,
Gunter Rostek.

Re: RV & RV4ker's (JCVB's) Explorer Project
Hi Boet,
Just wanted to know if you used a softish Alu because those are not structural parts.
It is amazing how quickly you can get odd shapes if you know what you are doing and if you have a bit of patience.
Well done, experience shows.
Kind regards,
Gunter Rostek

Can you tell us a bit more about how you made them? What did you use at a former? How do you get, or keep, the outside surface smooth after hammering it?Boet wrote: So I started cutting alu offcuts, and got VERY busy with my little hammer.........

Kom kuier, then I teach you.
Tools is: 2 hands, a hammer with a ball-head, a piece of wood, some odd-shaped lumps of iron, round and flat, patience and years of practice. Wish I can see all the alu together that I buggered up before finally getting it right!
If it does not make the Animal a wee bit faster, at least she wil be looking a little better. Did I mention ample use of Mk I Eyeball??
Paint was drying today so I can only fit them tomorrow. Will try and post some pics tomorrow. On Saturday we are having the Bossie Rally, I am entering with the Venture. Tomorrow evening is the get-to-know yer mates party. Allways a whopper. Hope I will be able to SEE on Saturday

Re: RV & RV4ker's (JCVB's) Explorer Project
Boet I think it is time you changed your name to the Zen Master. I dont know if every body knows what they are looking at here? Boet/Zen Master has taken some flat sheets of aluminium and made these fairings with a hammer. This is a lost art. This is how the old classic cars and aircraft were made before the age of mass production. Men had to serve as an aprentice for years before they learned to do what this man has done.

Jirre Boet,
I am under pressure now, prop & batteries on their way. I cannot believe how beautiful the Animal is turning out. You will be lynched if you do not take a video of the first start of that motor.
