What a pleasure to do business with Collette and her team from VAN ZYL AVIATION. Posted the relevant paperwork for renewal of my MPL licence on 19 May . Got my new licence in my hand this morning..(location Malmesbury Western Cape) No hassle, no sweat.!!
That’s what I call “pure efficiencyâ€

Re: VAN ZYL AVIATION
We no longer make use of these type of consultants and we have had very few times where we have not had turnaround within the same week from CAA. We send a batch of documents every two weeks. We send up on the Monday or Tuesday and we get the documents back by that Friday. No extra cost involved.
As long as all the paperwork is in order, all the bits there and signed, there is no reason you cannot get it back the same week from CAA.
By way of comparison, I sent a batch to a consultant late last year as I knew that there was was going to be one transaction out of the ordinary, and thought that the use of a consultant would somehow magically make it go through first time. Guess what - using a them had no effect. In fact only got the original paperwork back from them about 3 weeks ago - almost 5 months later. Dont get me wrong, the fact it did not go throuh was not the consultants fault, but more of a function of the complexity of the transaction. The paperwork I sent up later to support the transaction and the amount of fighting I had to do on the phone with CAA was no less given the fact that we had originally made use of a consultant.
I challenge you - if you believe your documentation is in order -send it up on the Monday by normal courier and I will be surprised if you dont have it back the same week. In fact post here if it is not available for collection by your courier the same week.
If you must spend money (on a service that may not be necessary), rather donate the funds to keep this site alive.

We have tried direct and even in person. Colette got things done I could not... Well worth it in my opinion especially when you do not know what you are doing. SB you tend to do this sort of thing often. I do it annually and it usually a mess so for me the consultants R150 is well worth it.. Often the paperwork is back in 3 days... When submitted via speed services 12-14 days turnaround from CAA.

Re: VAN ZYL AVIATION
Pro's and cons. With Collette, she is a wealth of information and advises exactly what is required and guarenteed, will have your stuff when she says so.
I would'nt take a phone operator's advice and arrive/ post accordingly, the dissapointment might exceed the fee.
However, if you're proficient or an organised bunch with regular requirements, then sure, you'll not need them.
Was'nt there an initiave/ inquiry to possibly pass this advisory/renewal warning/ courier service to Misasa for a fee? (Could think of nothing worse myself), but might help cover the overhead?
