Hi Guys

I just want to say lots of us are big guys and we sit tight, so these 2 are +/- 300 mm wider and a little bit longer than the Pegasus and most adhere microlights. The seating speaks for it self!

Thanks for the excellent feedback so far. The 582 Whirlwind will be close to the Thunderbolt in looks. The wing for the 582 has tested well and gave us an 80m/ph tops and a 30 m/ph stall. She will sell for +/- R195 000.00 Vat in.

My Polaris 582 will give you more than 80mph+ tops....and it sells for less than R195k fully imported from Italy. I thought these planes will be superior performance at a cheaper price?

Hi Andreb

They can make it faster and slower but remember this one is built for training. So when you order it you tell them what you want and I belief it will be done. From what I have seen a 582 is possible doing, with the right body and wing a 100 m/ph so remember it’s up to the buyer to say what he wants? Does your Polaris come with all those extras and dual disc brakes at the back? Remember we are not talking about an empty microlight they have all the things in you need to fly. I have ordered a whirlwind for my school and in comparison with what I can get this was a good deal! If I hade to put everything in a microlight I buy elsewhere it will cost me +/- R 38 000.00 more. So we are talking of an price of +/- R 157 000.00 Vat in Not bad man. vhpy

Ja well done Alex - you have put your money where your mouth is! I hope she flys well.

Only challenge I see so far is that maybe your air intakes are on the small side? Or have you done some calcs to show that they would provide sufficient air to the engine? I would be very interested to hear how you went about designing the whole plane. Might inspire other people to get innovative as well.

"Don't cry 'wolf', shepherd boy," said the villagers, "when there's no wolf!" They went grumbling back down the hill.

I would not be sceptical at all, I have seen some pictures, obviously this is a starting point and as with any project it improves with time and experience. They may not have expensive wind tunnels but they have experience, and I may add by the shed load !!

I would also like to add whilst on the subject, look at the aviation gear coming out of this country :

MGL Avionics...World class and selling in all markets. Good stuff

NC Props..very good

P De necker props

Solo wings

Aerotrikes / Cheetahs

Raptors

Bush babies

and many others...we dont even know about ??

and for those that dont know it..South Africa had a parallel project in radar development during the second world war with the UK. This country has some brilliant people and also the "chutzpah" to get on with it !! That is if they haven't emigrated yet !!

Good Luck chaps
