Spending the week in Hong Kong, World Electronics fair. Totally mind blowing, but the security kit on offer is not up to South African standards..

Re: Where are you now?
Getting this thread back on the subject, I am in Singapore minus my luggage. I just knew that it had to happen some time with all the travelling I do; they say it will be here tomorrow (16 May) but I will have to go out today and kit myself out for a BIG presentation that we are doing to CAAS tomorrow.
Let's see how long it takes them to find my bag that appears to have gone missing in ORTIA!!!

The SIA Baggage Services website tells me that my suitcase has been delivered to my hotel. My next post with either confirm this or be a rant and rave from me about their service levels!!
For those of you who are interested, I work for a South African company for which 92% of their turnover is from export business. I am the Sales & Marketing Manager for them and through this get to travel the globe visiting our distributors and trying to open up new markets. International travel is not for the faint-hearted and you have to have a real passion for what you do and take it in your stride that:-
- you will miss flights
- flights do get delayed
- the inside of an airport building is quite boring after 4 hours
- you will lose your luggage
- you will have to eat strange and exotic things
- you have to adapt to various cultures
- you have to accept that not everyone can speak English
- "home sick" does not appear in your dictionary
- you will be away from family / loved ones for 7 to 14 days at a time
- you will get sick in a foreign country and feel totally hopeless
- you will always return home relieved but at the same time satisfied that you have achieved so much
That is it in a nutshell!!!!

Re: Where are you now?
I have been re-united with my beloved suitcase! The system seems to work fine even if it is only on the second attempt and that being if your suitcase is not on the same flight as you are.
Weekend is here and my birthday on Sunday so I will have to find some way of spoiling myself whilst I am here.
Off to Jakarta on Monday and then back to Singapore on Friday, then back to SA early on Saturday morning.

Glad you found your suitcase Wart.
I am currently in BA lounge at OR Tambo waiting for flight to London and connection to Phoenix. Sorry I missed the Heidelberg run this morning, but ATF still not done.

Re: Where are you now?
After a few days of "not been able to connect" I am now in Jakarta. Spent 2 days in Bandung and got here last night after spending 4 hours in a traffic jam just trying to get out of Bandung!!! Had a busy day today and more presentations tomorrow, then back to Singapore on Friday and then HOME!!!

Sitting in hot Phoenix. Bit of a heat wave here, with temp expected to reach 110F. Luckily I am off to Denver this afternoon, then London and home by Sat.

Re: Where are you now?
Still in Jakarta but I will start the great trek home tomorrow.
Got one appointment here in the morning and then I fly back to Singapore for a dinner meeting and then on the flight at 2:20am on Saturday morning back to ORTIA. I will be glad to get back to normality after such a hectic trip!!
