What gloves ??

Postby Low Level » Mon Apr 14, 2008 12:27 pm

Question to the open cockpit guys, and the others.

What gloves do you fly with in winter? My throttle hand gets pretty cold, as it sits in the wind while flying.

I currently use thin leather biking gloves, but the fingertips are too thick and makes radiowork difficult. :?

Go to Outdoor Warehouse, they have great gloves that are warm and wind resistant

Gloves

Go to your nearest sport shop.

Ask for white runner gloves or take a look at the inner gloves cricketers use. They come in different thicknesses. Easy to manupilate radio.

Make a tiny hole in the tip of your gloves finger tip, push a golfing tee through the hole and add a drop of superglue; trim the tee off to the desired lenght- makes easy work of punching the radios buttons.........

I use old style moto x gloves with the leather front which stops the wind.

I cut the glove on the inside on the index finger by the 1st knuckle. When i need to do radio work I just slip the tip of my index finger out.

Go and check at cape union mart at their wind shield gloves. You will get a decent pair for about R130. They are nice to fly with.

You could also try a pair of bar mitts.
Icarus supply them, not sure of cost.

Cape Union mountaineering gloves. Called Gore-Tex. Covers the wrists as well. Thick, mega warm and non sweat. Has a rubber palm. But I superglued silicone dots (obtained from kitchen cupboard company @ R 2. 50) to the finger tips to do radio work. Fire-proof as well ! 5 years old, not yet torn !
