***********************************************************************************
As Mod I have been asked by a couple guys to remove this topic (Personally I agree with this sentiment, but not unilaterally delete at the time). I will leave it till Monday morning. If no violent objections are voiced on PM, email or here then I am going to delete AS REQUESTED. It has little aviation or ML relevance and does not really "FIT" in here?...

Yes, surely this topic has got nothing to do with aviation, but this topic has relevance on the aviation community in south africa in a personal matter. Surely if the criteria for a topic on this forum is aviation, Then please do not hesitate to delete all the "happy birthday" topics as well. Or just move this topic to the "non aviation" department. But this is a relevant topic for us to blow a bit of steam.

Safe flying guys.

This is incredible... Now we're getting the Bullard treatment? Blowing off steam, some humour and chucking in a bit of satyre seems to piss people off nowadays! If I read the posts I can only see factual connotations served up with a tongue in cheek smile :?

So if we have to conform to the norm of I don't know who... then... then... then... REMOVE THE THREAD if that makes everyone feel better vhpy

Sir Agent - I gladly accept the award! Maybe I must revert to Part 24 & inspectors with conflicts of interest?

I'm running for the nuclear bunker!

This is supposed to be hangar talk isn't it? Or have you guys decided to ban discussing women, politics and religion in your hangars?

It seems that Hangar Talk is now reserved for other things Cloudy.... I am seriously confused here.... :? If my memory serves me correctly a thread was started regarding to go to Australia / Oz or not.... What's so aviation about that? I suppose the trip across the waters in a big bird is regarded aviation.....

A host of other threads also not aviation related - I suppose a lot of guys agreed with the editor of the Sunday Times! Maybe you okes should start reading the Sun (Die Son)....

Now I've really put my foot into it....

Folks, we have politics in EVERY sphere of life in SA currently. I don't agree that we can differentiate between them and only allow some and others not.
Whilst I may not entirely agree with everything that has been said, I don't think it should be removed.

Guys hold on- if the mods have had complaints then it is their responsibility to address the issues (either discreetly or in public)- so lets not shoot the messenger.....

Whether the posted points are correct, incorrect or tainted are irrelevant- the mods have complaints.

The topic itself is running on avcom (under various postings on 123.45) without any complaints (yet)- why dont we let the mods do on this forum what they have been asked to by whoever it is, and then post your coments and blow off some steam on the related avcom postings....... just some food for thought......

We don't have a forum 123.45 - So, Demon, Morph & DarkHelmet create one - then the mods can delete it or move to where they want to.

I once again say that this is the one place where I can share thoughts oppinions etc whether they conform to whatever or whoever. The criteria I apply is that I DO NOT GET PERSONAL unless blatantly attacked eg. the Part 24 thread & Chunky.

I do however ask that some sort of consistency is applied - if Hangar talk then is reserved for Aviation related topics then so be it. So when someone has a good Ghost joke or was it GOATS Duckie? etc. it must be placed in a forum yet to be created!

SATIRE - Irony, sarcasm, or caustic wit used to attack or expose folly, vice, or stupidity.

So let the rhetoric FLY!
Rhetoric is the art of harnessing reason, emotions and authority, through language, with a view to persuade an audience and, by persuading, to convince this audience to act, to pass judgment or to identify with given values.

Earliest recording for the need of rhetorical skills is from Judaism's Torah, the Hebrew Bible traditionally dated to 1313 BCE[1].

In Greece rhetoric originated in a school of pre-Socratic philosophers known as Sophists c.600 BCE. It was later taught, in the Roman Empire, and during the Middle Ages, as one of the three original liberal arts or trivium (along with logic and grammar).

In Ancient and Medieval eras of European history, rhetoric concerned itself with persuasion in public and political settings such as assemblies and courts of law. As such, rhetoric is said to flourish in open and democratic societies with rights of free speech, free assembly, and political enfranchisement for some portion of the population. However, celebratory (or epideictic) rhetoric, alongside deliberative rhetoric, is just as important an element of tyrannical regimes or dogmatic (religious and otherwise) public entities that are not open to debate on an equal footing.

In contraposition to scientific debates , rhetorical arguments, as in politics or even justice, do not make use of demonstrable or tested truths, but resort to fallible opinions, popular perceptions, transient beliefs, chosen evidence or evidence at hand (like statistics), which are all properly called commonplaces as they help establish a commonality of understanding between the orator or rhetor and his/her audience.

An intellectual is one who tries to use his or her intellect to work, study, reflect, speculate, or ask and answer questions about a wide variety of different ideas.

There are, broadly, three modern definitions at work in discussions about intellectuals. First, “intellectuals” as those deeply involved in ideas, books, and the life of the mind. Second, “intellectuals” as a recognizable occupational class consisting of lecturers, professors, lawyers, doctors, engineers, scientists, etc. Third, “cultural intellectuals” are those of notable expertise in culture and the arts, expertise which allows them some cultural authority, which they then use to speak in public on other matters.
Some of us actually frequent the forum you know!
