With views like these and Franschoek mountains who would want to fly the 'Cabbage'Patch'?

Beautiful yes, breathtaking, magnificent 8)

In the wrong conditions, deadly

It is only on absolutely perfectly calm days that you can venture around the mountain, normally fraught with high winds, turbulance and downdraughts.

I have done the flying around Lions head and back. Never ventured further than Camps Bay (the beach you see on the third pic) due to concerns re safe landing spots

The mountain stands about 3300ft. You need to be at least 2500ft to be reasonably safe around the city bowl.

Mmmmm. Checked the "stadium" out from signall hill some time ago. Weekday. I could not see ANY movement down there. Dem haven`t a snowball`s chance in hell of ever finishing THAT in the next 10 years. Not at the pace I saw anyway. Someone flew by with s C182. Looked very peacefull. Dead calm conditions. Boy, was I jealous!!!
