Very nice Larry,

The project seems to be moving along real fast,

How many hours has it taken to get to this stage?

Kind regards,

Tallied hours last night again - which are acurately recorded daily, even for handlangers and pop-in-helpers, and we were at 881.

Instrument panel now in and done, loading plane onto a trailer on Friday, and will be delivering to George Factory, for 2200 jab engine installation.

Still need to complete fuel lines and brakes before then.

Had another inspection on Saturday, and Registered AMO guy looked fairly impressed, and had some complinentary comments, so that helps!

While plane is in George, we will finish the wings, flaps, ailerons, controls, and make the various fairings.

Hoping to get her back in 3 weeks from george, with engine run ups done, and cowlings installed.

Will then need to fit canopy, fairings wings, and DONE!!

Then, some testing, taxing etc, and still the fight for a buid number continues. Still no joy, very frustating.

About 6 Sonex aircraft now nearing completion, and one of the guys keeps visiting caa, but at the moment, we cannot even get a list of requirements from them. Absolute B...S... Hoping that the British certification will be done soon, and maybe that will help.

Sorry Steve, been away for a while, and trying to catch up!

Yes, another Sonex. The same one that was at the PE airshow about 16 months ago. Sold to someone from Klerksdorp, think. Now having a 3.3 jab engine fitted, is the only one to have been issued a build number beforehand.

On my side, Flaps and Ailerons should be done this weekend, so now waiting on jab factory.

Sounds like we might be able to get build numbers, using a letter from USA FAA, statiung that the aircraft is kit built, possibly something to do with the 51% rule? Will hopefully get that sorted out!

Cheers

Larry

I flew down to Port Elizabeth last week (Pax was Captain Biggles) in the RV4. Was met by Gary Butlion to show us his Sonnex and Aero Vee engine which is being hangered in thr military museum's hanger. I must say that the sonnex kit is most impressive. Considering that this plane is easy to build and has some aerobatic capabilitiy, we should be seeing a lot more of this type on our shores. A few pics below....
