They have shut off our airspace this weekend so they can do some practise runs

It is just changed to controlled airspace. But you must file a flightplan. And the detail given is a lot more than that on a flightplan. I'm talking about from ID numbers and it stop just short of having to tell them your weight. This is a lot more than just controlled airspace. I mean, normal airlaw does not require a flightplan if you fly from unmanned to unmanned airfield, so the restrictions here is a bit more severe.

Even for a local flip? How do you file a FP for a jollie patrollie?

PS
Filing FP is not a big deal. If you have easy plan it does it for you. If not register on file2fly and file the FP there or get Morph or one of the other bright PC sparks to make XL template and file same FP every time... Not flying is exactly what they want as it makes their life easier. F%&*^ Em... Give them some practise. Try to get as many guys in the air this weekend as possible... Squawk on Mode C/S on 2000 if you have it... he he he

Yes we need to log a flightplan 24 hours in advance
b) Normal published procedures to enter the above listed airspaces are to be complied with. In addition all flights with the exception of scheduled and State flights flying within 50NM radius centered on VOR CTV (S335810.32 E0183618.09) extending from GND to FL460 (inclusive of all airspace) are to apply to the SAPS for vetting. Application for vetting must be done at least 24 hours prior to departure.

i) For Vetting the following information must be supplied:

Aircraft registration
Aircraft Owner and contact details of owner
Pilot Name
ID/Passport Number and Contact Details Crew Names ID/Passport umbers
Passengers ID/Passport Numbers

ii) SAPS are to be contacted at:
Tel : 012 312 2625

Back on topic, if anyone close to Parys wants to give it a bash, there is a fun rally being held too:

http://avcom.co.za/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=31683

Give them a call, and see if they accept microlights?

Nominating your own speed makes it relly or precision flying. Air race is about speed - Period.

Happy to organise rally as well, but that a different kettle of fish completely and IMHO nowhere near as much fun.
