Search for the best burger & venue has begun (Gauteng)

Postby Smiley » Mon Mar 03, 2008 8:49 am

Hello everyone

The “Manne of Staal” was approached by the International Hamburger Society in an attempt to identify the best fly-out burger & venue in Gauteng.

This society is also affiliated to the World Hamburger Building Federation who hosts the annual World Hamburger Building Championships in Brakpan each year…..

To make a long story short, as the foremost authority  , we were approach to identify the Top 3 hamburgers in Gauteng, but also assess the venue.

To start-off our campaign we will visit these three venues this Saturday and thereafter one a week.

They are:
1) Secunda
2) Rhino Park
3) Kitty Hawk

(If you know the people here, please let them know we are coming) s115

I will give feedback on a weekly basis, so please watch this space.

If you want us to visit your venue as part of our search please let us know. Also include the reason why we should visit you first!

I will make the list by which we judge available soon

Smiley mate - Your going to try all three burgers in one day?? hmmm plan on extending that take off roll (no pun intended) a lot. Especially when flying out of Rhino - they make a pretty decent burger.

Next nomination - Aeroden - DAMN fine Breakfast there..

Since I supply one of the nominated candidates, I need to appear impartial.

So, what criteria is used when choosing the best burger and can you ellaborate on whether points are added or taken away for the following:

Using 'plastic' proccessed cheese?

Bought -in frozen bargain soya patties as opposed to homemade patties?

Bought- in pre-frozen chips as opposed to freshly made?

Does size always count?

How much does ambiance influence the occasion and do you score higher being served by a sexy poppie, the ever efficient 'mother - in -law' type or the stand-in gardener.?

I am part of this team, it is kind-alike the American $100 burger thing, you fly somewhere and have burger that cost you all in all $100. Well we fly micro's, shall we call it the R200 Burger Search all inclusive??

My 2c worth. I know I am way off course but the best hamburger I have ever had was in November at the Stellenbosch Flying Club. Only R17.50!!!!!!! When I asked them how long it would take to make I was told I was in for a long wait as they are individually cooked and built with care. Man was the wait worth it! When it came what a site. The chips were overflowing the plate. The patty thick and juicy with lots of gardening and souces added. the best burger I have ever eaten anywhere on earth, including those in Disneyworld. Can highly reccomend it. May just cost you a bit more to get there. This will not be a problem if you really love flying.

Hello everyone

If any of you wanna rate a burger and venue, please see the attached scorecard. This is the standard by which everyone has to do it.

Included in your rating must be the following three foto's:
1) Hamburger on the plate
2) The table
3) The venue setting

We will also visit the same venue for the final review...

Don't forget Pilanesburg - those Sun City burgers are certainly worth a look (and taste) ;-) .
