Well done, (^^) (^^)(^^)(^^)(^^)

As a matter of interest,

How do you do a conversion on a single seater? Does the instructor stand on the ground and talk you through it on the radio or do you do it on a 2-seat version like the Challengers have?

Something like this.
Howzit chom... There's F All to it. Just pime it, swing the prop line it up and away you go. Fly it down with power and you'll be fine. If you have to do a forced lob just dive it down and flair. Enjoy it.... Ohh and 2 Strokes die without warning, always have landing option in sight.

he he he

Seriously.

Dick was great.
Basically the process as I understand is as follows;
If you don't have tailwheel time - Get some beforehand.
Briefing on preflight and basics - Same as any other plane.
Instructor then talks you through the take off , air work and the landing.
THEN handshake and "all the best" and away you go....

PS
There are no 2 seaters in the world.

Wart
Cato would be short hop of 4.5hrs, so not likely in near future. Would also need 3-4 fuel stops...

Ace
Ditto. Hope to be early at a Flyday tea party sometime this mellenuim

Then, sat, took my oldman in the R22, FAVG, Cato for breakfast, (hey Wart!), then PMB, howick falls, midmar dam, mooi rivier, and back through the midlands. Was abosolutely awesome. Then yesterday, saw 4 whales playing around just off Tinley manor - what a weekend.
You shoulda told me. I was up at the folks farm just outside Howick over the weekend - HUGE front lawn - could probably land a Mi26 on it.....next time.

Are Ml's welcome at Pilansberg

Obviously, but just assumed due to controlled airspace, CTR, Air link etc they would be like rest of the big iron depo's?

Yes, you pay landing fees.. a real education ! Sam (the MAN..) takes 30 mins to fill out the paperwork and charge 4 microlights R26-17 each... Dont take a pax ... they pay R30, and if the pax is not South African you pay R70 !
Best was keeping a huge twin Airlink AC waiting on the runway for us to get close (6 mins) before continuing circuits (bet he used more fuel waiting for us than we used to get there !) - Great airmanship shown by the PIC !
No ATC inbound... when about to enter the RW on departure the ATC's voice piped up, and controlled our departure... (sort of) - Also tried to get us to back track a KM before takeoff - Would have worn out our tyres..
Anyway one of those things we all wanted to do once .... Got the T shirt now..
Cheers

Very hazy muggy day today but still managed 36 minutes this afternoon. There was an inversion at 500ft AMSL that was bumpy as hell but above that it was smooth. Flew out over to Altona and did a circuit. I noticed 3 Minibusses parked and guys doing a fashion photoshoot in the road next to the airfield. I did a touch and go from the opposite side and stayed low level over the fields until I was almost on top of them and then pulled a nice steep climb. Could see the girls waving excitedly. I must say I felt great :D :D :D 8)

33 minutes this morning, some low-level cloud. I checked out two of the airfields Gert posted. The skeleton on Ou Malmes looks like a Cropduster in need of some serious maintenance. Next time will land and take some pics.

Always say "crew" instead of "Pax" - don't pay as much - learnt this on a trip up to Okavango :)
