Hi Griffin,For the education of us "wannabees" how did you decide on an MT-03 ??
It all eventually turned on $$$$
As a newbie to flying, I'm certainly not going to get into the debates of ela vs Magni vs MT-03 vs RAF vs Seycamore
They all have their good points as well as drawbacks.
I understand the justification that Magni is so pricey because of the more expensive steel used in it's airframe etc and their proven reliability and track record in SA, but it's not going to be long before there are as many MT-03's flying in SA as there are Magnis. (Just look at the latest aircraft registrations for November published in the flying magazines) And hey, if the MT-03 can pass UK and German flying standards, it's good enough for me.
I also did quite a bit of homework on the specs and although ELA stacks up well on paper (see below), my personal preference was either Magi or MT-03.
It then boiled down to price, price price. A like for like Magni would have cost me almost R250k more than the MT-03 with all the extras.

Hi Old nO 7
I now you will receive a good training at 303. Please sent my regards to Joshua and Matthew (my instructors in 2006).
You have done your homework, decided on what will be good for you, and please do not get involved in mine is better than yours.
My experience is that flying in a group the fast guys land at a refueling stop about 2 minutes earlier than the slow guys, so speed is no factor.
We can all have a lot of fun goinig places together.
Please enjoy your training!
You will come to points where you battle to get the damn plane smoothly on the ground, but stay focused, and enjoy.
