For some reason a ' ends the url so below the pics from the AIC in question. Don't know if quality is any good, but you get the idea. Exactly as Demon described...
I used exel spread, but easy plan is easier and is accepted by CAA as backup provided you jump through a couple hoops which I can't remember off hand... I just print it out and stick it in the log book. has been accepted and it lists it by type which is pain in @ss to do manually...

Flying times should be summarised for the preceding 6 or 12 months.
Regulation 9.4 of the Air Navigation Regulations, 1976 as amended calls for logbooks to be summarised.
An example of summarising procedures in an effort to obtain uniformity is attached to this AIC.

Just remembered that my MPL expired (not flying). I tried downloading the form and its not working:( can someone repost.
Also the summary of the hours, where can I get a copy of that form? And how do you certify it... I think i only have two pages of flying in the last year... could I not copy that and submit it?

Hi All
The CAA takes quite a lot of flak so I thought I would relate my tale about renewing my gyro licence which expires sometime in the first quarter of next year.
My medical expired on 14 Nov. this year and I had a another on 16 Nov. I knjow my examiner needs to fill in the numbers of hours so I printed a page from easy plan. After the medical I took a drive to the CAA to lodge my medical certificate and, at the same time, enquire about renewing my licence. There were no queues and I was attended to by a fellow whose name I did not get (unfortunately). I asked about the renewal and he rattled off the bit about a medical and a log book summary so I asked if the easy plan summary was good enough and it was so one signature on the summary and the two of us filling out the renewal form on the spot, plus R480 and I had a renewed licence in 45 mins.
I am sorry I did not get his name because I would have commended him to his superiors.
So they do get things right and we should acknowledge that when it happens.

Ok, I've got:
- logbook summary and copy of logbook, certified
- valid medical (copy, certified)
- CA 61-01.08 completed, duly signed by an instructor
Reading this thread all I need now is to pay the currency fees and post the lot to CAA ...
But CA 61-01.08 says on the first page, right on top in the 'Notes' section:
"(iii) practical flight test and if required instrument rating test form as prescribed in terms of ANR's (forms CA61-155, CA61-156, CA61-161, CA61-165 and CA61-166);"
Is any of these required/applicable for MPL/flexwing?
Thanks!
Cheers,
V.

Thanks, I've got the hours (not as many as I would have liked, but more than enough for the renewals). Even have a little time left on the licence, it only expires end of next month, but rather have the lot sent off in time.
Also preferred to get the renewal before the language proficiency test comes in. I think my English is passable, but the test is just another hassle and another baksheesh, erm. fee to pay ...

Got it cleared up: the flight test was not required. The friendly gentleman on the phone at CAA confirmed that my licence has been extended just short of 2 weeks ago and has been posted ... Post seems to take a tad longer than I would expect, but that's another story.V wrote:Ok, I've got:
