Scrap

Postby Carel » Wed Feb 13, 2008 12:46 pm

Airlaw,

Likewise there are a lot of "scrap" under the "certified aircraft" section that also need to be removed from the airspace.

I spend more hours in planes (small charter & private) than the average pilot per year due to my work and see what is flying around.

Just before me one of the trikes failed with an engine seizure. The trikes were in terrible condition and definately not airworthy.

I also saw one of the Trike formation team's trikes at the Durban airshow at Virginia. ZU-ACB (I am trying to attach some photos) That trike should be grounded for sure. It has bent tubes, ripped wing sail and a very skew front wheel.
These examples would not have passed their annual AP`s on the "old laws" so how exactly would "more rules" sort this out..........

The engine that "seized" in front of you must have reached its 300hr mark on the crank while flying  ........ unless it was perhaps one of another 1000 possible reasons- nah, must have been the crank.

So welcome to the forum....

Airlaw

Who let you out of your cage?

I doubt you are going to make any friends on this forum by taking the abrasive approach you have! Many of the Microlighters on this forum are also active participants on AVCOM. Many of them are not just limited to flying weight-shift & 3-axis lapvlerkies - we have MPL, PPL & CPL's on this forum. We also fly blik aeries like you say you do.... well, yippee doo daaa for you.

This is a forum that we share a common interest and that is to get our arses into the sky - in an affordable fashion I might add. This may make you a tad jealous up till now thus your stance on the so called law!

NTC & experimental aviators are more in "tune" with their aircraft than you that is forced to have a Mandatory Parts Inspection once a year or 100 hours @ R 20 000. You surely do not have an aircraft with retractible undercarriage but then again that was your choice! There are chaps on this forum that own more than 1 aircraft and have the opportunity to fly around the country in comfort - yet they feel just as injured when one sobs a tear regarding Part 24 - WHY you ask? IT AFFECTS US ALL ON THIS FORUM! Go and fly your bloody certified aeroplane and fart against thunder (the likes of Cessna Piper & Beechcraft...) when a AD comes out or your power packs have to be replaced or your blow by's are out of spec... Whose fault is it then... the AMO? You have come to the wrong place if you want to talk ZS-BLIK or ZS-CERTIFIED here....

Anyway, welcome on this forum - but then again, you are familiar with this forum as you pertinently launched a personal attack!!!

I think we have booted "Airlaw" out of this forum.

Just another thing for airlaw to think about.

Do you realy think that the so-called "junk" you saw actually had valid ATF. There is another side to the stricter laws that more guys would fly illegally. No we certainly do not want that. So Bye-bye now. Hope next time you make some friends. It will be dificult though.

Maybe change your name!! 116

Hi Airlaw,

What qualifies you to consider aircraft "scrap" ,from by the sounds of it, by just a casual glance.?

Please enlighten us.

PS Your real name would also be enlightening.

Airlaw thanks for your comment and enlightenment. David what you did was very unresponsible and un microlighter like - Where's the pics of the recently completed Durban Intl? . How many touch'ngo's can you do before running out of runway?

Airlaw I hope you atleast learnt something about microlights? When we have an engine out it means the engine died or stopped and is easily rectified...with CERTIFIED AIRCRAFT it means the engine fell OUT the plane...eish.

PS I'm sure I spoke with you at the CAA? Don't forget we all know what you did last summer... :)

Air law/ slow starter , thanks for the kind words regarding the microlights that are crowding the sky . I am just wondering why you did not come forward earlier /and or report the problem of the bad condition of the trikes at La mercy / Balito to the CFI immediately .
The snake team/ display team issue will be addressed as soon as possible , but why make a statement about 3trikes when there are more than 2200 Microlights flying in RSA . 47 % of the south African fleet of registered planes are microlights and the safety record is by far better than the blik aries that fly daily ,
Should you require more facts youre welcome to visit me and I shall prove our safety record as I have the stats for the last 3 years
IF you had a bad experience , youre entiteled to your opinion , but why tar the rest of the microlighters , we dont do the same to our pilot buddies , in law terms I rest my case Leprachaun (safety officer MISASA)

Lesson learnt

Postby John Boucher » Wed Feb 13, 2008 5:11 pm

Let this be a lesson to any "intruder" to this forum....

We might get a bit rough on the edges with each other at times but we share on thing here that I think AIRLAW failed to see that :

SOLIDARITY

An injury to 1 is an injury to all in MICROLIGHTERS!

Fly to Kimberley John Weston? Give BAD NAV a call and he's there to meet you.... Will even arrange for a coolie for you!

Fly to Kuruman (ask ex SLOW POKE)? Give him a buzz and he's there to assist.....

This I bet is the way members of this forum receive fellow aviators at their home fields.....

DO BLIK PILOTS LIKE Your Highness The Ulimate Vlamgat Pilot AIRLAW do the same...... I DOUBT IT!

KAPLAKS! Gaan vang 'n hoender op 'n ander plek asseblief AIRLAW! s117

What If ????????
What if CAA decided to stop all the bull about the cranks etc and the owner had to sign an indemnity - ie I the owner take full responsibility for the engine / re the crank etc - I think it could work , its your plane and life at risk should you exceed the "required checkup"
It seems to me the issue at the moment is who will take the responsibility re the engine ;
CAA will not , The importers / agents are bound by the supplier over ze wasser , so why dont we take care of ourselves , Make yourself accountable for your deeds -
Lets teach the present government not to say sorry , but take control and be responsible , Just a thought whilest cruising through the Free State , Leprachaun , presently in Burgersdorp
